Your New Job As a traffic engineer at the Urban Development Office, you will help shape the future of Jönköping. You have an important role in creating a safe, accessible, and sustainable traffic environment for everyone who lives and spends time in the city. The work is varied and involves contributing your traffic engineering expertise in urban development processes, where you ensure quality in building permits, detailed plans, and investment projects. You ensure that our traffic solutions meet requirements for safety, accessibility, and sustainability, while handling questions and feedback from citizens and stakeholders in a professional manner. Part of your assignment involves authority functions related to the municipality's road management responsibility, which includes making decisions on local traffic regulations and handling matters that affect traffic and the municipality's streets and roads. The role gives you many contact points – both internally and externally – and the opportunity to influence how the city develops. You work closely with colleagues in a skilled team and represent the department in various forums, always with a focus on creating a safe and well-functioning traffic environment that meets future needs. Your Expertise We are looking for someone with higher education focused on traffic, traffic engineering, infrastructure, roads and water, or urban planning, or alternatively other education combined with experience that we consider equivalent. It is advantageous if you have worked as a traffic engineer or in a similar role and if you have experience with authority functions. As a person, you are structured, solution-oriented, and easy to collaborate with. You thrive with driving processes forward and have the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. You are good at collaboration, but at the same time have the ability to independently and efficiently advance your matters. You can handle cases in a factual and professional manner and are skilled at coordinating different interests. Since communication and documentation are a major part of your work, you need to have a strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, as well as in a pedagogical manner. Of course, you handle digital tools as a natural part of your work. A class B driving license is required. The workplace is centrally located in the municipal building Hoven, near Juneporten, with easy access to good transportation. Welcome to Us As a traffic engineer with us, you will become part of the Development and Traffic Department at Jönköping Municipality's Urban Development Office. Jönköping is a rapidly growing city where urban development is a priority, and traffic matters play a central role in this work. Our department is responsible for ensuring traffic safety, accessibility, and connectivity on the municipality's streets, roads, and squares. We actively work to promote sustainable transportation solutions and create attractive and functional environments through design and investments in public spaces. We also handle authority functions regarding traffic regulations, permits, and parking licenses, with the goal that our environments are safe and secure for everyone. The department consists of just over 20 employees with a diversity of ages, backgrounds, and experiences, which enriches our work and our workplace.
