Welcome to Us Do you want to work on developing green elements in Stockholm? We offer you a broad position where you get to be part of creating and developing green spaces in the public realm. Today, the unit is responsible for, among other things, the city's flower program, Christmas trees, and control of invasive plant species. Now we're expanding the mission to also create an in-house program for both creating and maintaining perennial greenery in street environments. We're now seeking a person who both wants to work with the existing assignments and operationally care for plantings within the program. Since this is a new position, there's every opportunity to influence the design of the assignment together with colleagues. Urban Space Activation is part of the City Environment department. We are a relatively newly formed unit responsible for the city's work on site development in the early stages using temporary architecture, design, greenery, decorative lighting, safety, and activation throughout the city. The unit also serves as the city's coordinating function for the creation of swimming areas and saunas. We're a wonderful and tight-knit team with a forward-thinking spirit. We consist of 18 employees and one unit manager. Your Role This is a broad and varied position that suits you if you want to combine practical work with the development of biodiversity and greenery in the city. The position involves many contact points and considerable collaboration at times at a high pace. You'll be part of a group in the unit that works together with other expertise in the office or the city to create attractive places to spend time. We conduct extensive development work in the unit together with our colleagues in the department to strengthen the city's biodiversity. Additional areas may be included in-house in the future, and you are a natural part of that development. As a horticultural engineer, you're responsible for the development and follow-up of green maintenance contracts with a strong focus on sustainability. You'll oversee the implementation of programs for perennial greenery. Work tasks will include: • Participate in the entire process from planning to maintenance • Perform maintenance measures, which includes planning, following up, and evaluating measures • Participate in procurements • Budget responsibility for assigned work tasks • Inspections of plant material in our urns and plantings • Check perennial plant material and follow up on the contractor's work in the city • Perform spot checks during various planting rounds • Handle inquiries from the public • Prepare service statements • Participate in digitalization in mapping tools for efficient management Your Competence and Experience We're Looking for You Who • Have a degree as a horticultural engineer, landscape engineer, or have equivalent education that we deem comparable • Have experience working with plant material, such as at a nursery, garden center, park facility, or similar • Practical experience with plants, both annual and perennial, shrubs, and plant use • Knowledge of sustainable cultivation • Have good knowledge of plant composition • Have good skills in Microsoft Office • Have good skills in Swedish, both spoken and written It's a merit if you have experience • Working with GIS • Both practical execution and administrative work • Working with contracts We see that you're a person who enjoys working on projects at a high pace and getting things done.
