As a church custodian, you hold a key role in the pastorat's daily operations and contribute to ensuring that the pastorat's churches and facilities are welcoming, safe, and well-maintained for all visitors.
The work is varied and involves both practical and social tasks, in close collaboration with clergy, musicians, volunteers, and other staff members.
Your Responsibilities
As a church custodian at Töreboda Pastorat, you will, among other things:
Prepare and arrange the church space for services, church ceremonies, and other activities
Assist at church ceremonies and services
Responsible for supervision, maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs of churches and congregation facilities
Operate technology such as sound, lighting, and certain digital equipment
Handle practical tasks such as arranging furniture, snow removal, and certain facility maintenance
Support operations with various practical services, such as preparing facilities for events
Conduct routine inspections and maintenance, for example: fire and safety checks, filter changes in ventilation systems
Ensure that facilities, churches, and inventory are in good, well-maintained condition
Regular cleaning and deep cleaning
Meritorious:
Practical experience in facility management or similar work such as construction, electrical, or plumbing
Knowledge of building technology, such as ventilation, heating systems, control systems, or access systems
Experience working in church activities
Knowledge of technical aspects (sound/lighting)
Good IT skills
Comfortable with digital tools such as smartphones, as much of the pastorat's communication and reporting is handled electronically. Experience using Teams is meritorious.

Töreboda Pastorat is a rural pastorat located in northern Skaraborg, in the Skara Diocese. Both farmland and forest landscape provide varied scenery, and you can travel along the Göta Canal and the western main railway line through the pastorat. The pastorat comprises the congregations of Fredsberg-Bäck, Fägre, Hova-Älgarås, and Töreboda.
Töreboda Pastorat manages 15 churches and churchyards as well as other properties, including congregation halls. You will be part of a team together with a facility manager and three other church custodians.
