The Swedish Chemicals Agency is a government authority tasked with reducing the risks of chemicals harming people and the environment. The Licensing Division is responsible for reviewing applications for approval of plant protection products, biocidal products, and general chemicals according to applicable national and EU legislation. The division consists of four units, one of which is the Environmental Assessment Unit. The Environmental Assessment Unit is responsible for reviewing the parts of an application for approval of plant protection products related to environmental impact. The unit is also responsible for reviewing the efficacy of biocidal products. The work takes place in close collaboration with other units within the division that have responsibilities in licensing matters. We work with clear goals in a production system inspired by Lean methodology. 1 position(s). WORK TASKS We are looking for someone who can work with reviewing applications for approval of plant protection products under applicable EU legislation. The work takes place in cross-functional teams and involves reviewing the environmental effects of products and substances, their distribution and transformation in the environment, as well as preparing and writing materials for decision-making. The work is conducted in close contact with applicant companies and other relevant authorities in Sweden and the EU. QUALIFICATIONS You must have a natural science or technical university degree at the Master's level minimum and be specialized in agronomy, soil science, environmental chemistry, or a similar field that we consider suitable for the position. Knowledge of how substances distribute, spread, and transform in the environment is a requirement. You must be well-versed in reading and reviewing scientific information and be able to express yourself well in both spoken and written Swedish and English. In your communication, you are clear and trustworthy and collaborate easily with others. It is advantageous if you have knowledge/experience in · Risk assessment of chemicals in the environment · Plant cultivation and agricultural systems under Northern European conditions · Government/public sector work You work independently as well as in groups. Frequent external and internal contacts place high demands on judgment and collaboration skills. You also have the ability to independently suggest improvements, drive development, and conduct proactive dialogue to help the organization find pragmatic and effective solutions.
