As an hourly temporary staff member on our units, you work closely with patients, providing basic nursing care, observations, and documentation. You will meet patients with varying diagnoses, conditions, and needs, which makes the work varied and offers great learning opportunities.
The Psychiatry Department encompasses both outpatient and inpatient services, supporting patients in Jämtland County who need specialist psychiatric care. The department has a total of approximately 270 employees. The psychiatric clinic in Östersund houses all specialist care under one roof, enabling close collaboration within and between professions and internal mobility with opportunities for personal development as an employee.
Our care units:
• Psychiatric Emergency Unit 1b with a focus on acute psychiatry, featuring two care beds for child and adolescent psychiatry.
• Psychiatric Care Unit 4a with a focus on psychosis and eating disorder care.
• Psychiatric Care Unit 4b with a focus primarily on affective disorders and geriatric conditions.

WORK RESPONSIBILITIES
As hourly staff in inpatient care, you work closely with patients and provide the support they need in their daily life, personal care, and social contacts. You work near patients and contribute to their sense of security, structure, and recovery during their hospital stay. The work is performed in a team together with nursing assistants, nurses, doctors, care coordinators, psychologists, and other professional groups.
Work responsibilities may include:
• providing support in daily life, personal care, and social contacts
• conducting supportive conversations, activities, and crisis support
• observing the patient's condition and reporting changes to responsible staff
• monitoring vital signs such as pulse and blood pressure
• documenting according to operational procedures
Work responsibilities are adapted to your education, experience, and orientation. You don't need to know everything from the start - what matters is that you are willing to learn and develop.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a trained nursing assistant or who are studying for a healthcare profession such as nurse, doctor, psychologist, or social worker. Previous experience working in healthcare, disability services, or other experience in support or service is a merit.
You are interested in psychiatric care work and meet patients, relatives, and colleagues with respect and attentiveness. You collaborate well, take responsibility, and can adapt when work tempo varies. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
