Freja Upper Secondary School is an adapted upper secondary school for young people with intellectual disabilities. We are now seeking temporary staff who want to contribute to a safe, clear, and developmentally supportive school day for our students. Since continuity and recognition are important for our students, we would prefer candidates who can work with some regularity. 3 position(s). WORK TASKS You will work within an adapted upper secondary school, either in the individual program, where teaching takes place in smaller teaching groups, or in national programs in hospitality, restaurant and bakery, as well as retail and service. Student needs vary, and several students have extensive support needs in learning, communication, and daily situations. The work therefore makes high demands on safety, clarity, attentiveness, and flexibility. You work closely with teachers, student assistants, and other staff. Under the direction of teachers and in certain situations independently, you support students in teaching and during other parts of the school day, such as breaks and transitions between activities. You need to be able to follow the operation's planning, structure, and routines while also adapting when situations change. Working hours mainly follow the students' school day, and early morning supervision may occur. For certain students, care services are also included. Experience with, for example, tube feeding, epilepsy, or following exercise programs prescribed by a physiotherapist is therefore an advantage. A calm and low-affect approach is an important foundation in the work. You need to be able to create safety through predictability, clear communication, and adapted communication support. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who: • have experience working with children, young people, or adults with intellectual disabilities • have knowledge of autism and how cognitive disabilities can affect learning, communication, and daily life • have knowledge of or experience with TAKK and/or other alternative and augmentative communication methods • have the ability to support and implement activities based on students' individual conditions • are calm, attentive, flexible, and well-organized • work well collaboratively and follow common work methods, routines, and agreements • contribute to safety, participation, and a positive school day for our students. Experience with care services and work with students with extensive support needs and challenging behavior is an advantage. We place great emphasis on personal suitability, as your approach, your ability to collaborate, and your ability to create safety are crucial in working with our students.
