Your responsibilities As a substitute, you can work in preschool, pre-primary class, after-school care, primary school grades 1-9, and upper secondary school. In your role as a substitute in preschool, you participate in daily tasks such as group meetings, educational meals, planned activities, singing and story time, and extensive outdoor activities. There are also practical tasks such as dishwashing, table wiping, and preparing and clearing up after meals. In this role, it is important that you focus on working based on the needs of the facility and be flexible in meeting these needs. In pre-primary class/after-school care, grades 1-9, and upper secondary school, you may work as a resource for one or more students in class. You also need to be prepared to be booked as a resource within adapted primary school and in our special instruction groups. Here you work to support and motivate children and students with intellectual disabilities in their learning and social interactions. Your qualifications You are either trained as a childcare worker or educational assistant. Alternatively, other relevant education and passing grades in Swedish, plus previous experience working with children/youth. Great emphasis is placed on your personal suitability for the position. You have the ability to meet children of all ages and motivate them in their learning, create understanding, and take your own initiative. You are flexible and enjoy collaboration, but you also have no problem working independently. In stressful situations, you remain calm and always strive to maintain high quality in your work and interactions with children/students. To function in the role of substitute, you need to be able to adapt to the fact that procedures differ at different workplaces. You must be at least 18 years old. You speak and write Swedish fluently and without difficulty. This is important because as a substitute you need to quickly understand instructions, collaborate with colleagues, and play an important role in supporting children in their language and communication development. Through us, you have the opportunity to be booked for assignments of varying lengths; the minimum is three hours. This depends on the facilities' needs and the availability you indicate. You will have the opportunity to work at many different facilities and be matched to assignments based on your area of expertise. We provide substitutes to all of Västerås stad's school operations—including the municipality's rural areas—so you need to be prepared to travel to workplaces outside the city. In our scheduling tool timepool, you register the days you can work and are matched to assignments based on your area of expertise. Working hours are scheduled during daytime, Monday-Friday between 6:30 AM-6:30 PM, and you need to be available during these times. You need to be able to get to work with short notice, as bookings can occur on the same day. Therefore, it's an advantage if you are based in Västerås.
