Substitute Caregivers Wanted for Stegehus HVB Fall 2026
Stegehus HVB is seeking engaged, confident, and responsible substitute caregivers for fall 2026.
We need to strengthen our substitute pool and are looking for someone who wants to work extra based on the facility's needs. The employment level varies and the work is especially suitable for you if you are studying, have another job, or other primary occupation but want to work more.
We are primarily looking for someone with a two-year post-secondary education in social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or similar relevant field. If you lack formal education, we want you to have extensive experience with our target group.
The facility operates a resource school and associated residential housing for children and young people who need an adapted learning environment and residential care. The facility is located on Vikbolandet near Stegeborg. Stegehus is a mission-driven organization serving children and young people with neuropsychiatric disabilities, as well as children without a diagnosis who need comprehensive schooling and residential solutions. Since 1977, Stegehus has cared for children and young people in a family-like environment and secure atmosphere, with the well-being of the children always being the priority.
At Stegehus, you will be part of a work team of approximately 4-6 people, though solo work may occur. We work on a 4-week rotating schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and nights. Central to your work is your ability to build good relationships with the children, their families, and your colleagues. Your tasks include all daily activities needed to create structure and good conditions for meeting the children's basic needs.
You work together with your colleagues to create predictability and clarity for the children, focusing on meeting their primary needs such as sleep, nutrition, physical activity, social interaction, and security. Together you create comfort and safety in the house where you work. Each house has 1 to 4 children.

We seek someone who is calm, confident, and stable as a person with good self-awareness. You have progressed in your personal development and are aware of both your strengths and areas where you continue to grow. You can maintain your composure even in challenging situations and create security for children and young people through professional and respectful conduct.
To thrive in this role, you need to be responsible, flexible, and organized. You work independently while being a good team player. Since the work is based on the children's individual needs and developmental stages, you need to be able to adapt your approach and prioritize based on what the situation requires.
We appreciate that you are initiative-taking, engaged, and enjoy being active. You have the ability to inspire and motivate children and young people toward a meaningful and developmental daily life.
A driver's license is required. You also need to have access to your own car to get to the workplace. Driving is a natural part of the job.
