Temporary Department Manager for Advisory and Public Guardianship Services

Job Responsibilities We are now seeking a department manager for our Advisory and Public Guardianship unit who, with courage and fresh thinking, contributes to the development of both the administrative office and the department. As Department Manager for the Advisory and Public Guardianship department, you are responsible for leading and developing the department. You have overall responsibility for operations, finances, personnel, work environment, quality, and development. You lead a department with more than 60 employees working in three units supported by three unit managers and four senior case handlers. You work to create synergies and collaborations within the department to ensure a holistic perspective together with the unit managers. The department's goal is that all Gothenburg residents have a socially and economically sustainable everyday life. As Department Manager, you work on behalf of the director, are part of the administrative management, and contribute to the entire office's development to ensure the greatest possible benefit for the operations we collaborate with and the citizens the operations serve. Gothenburg City is a large organization in development, which requires the ability to handle complex contexts and close collaboration with other administrative offices and companies in the city. Being a Department Manager involves a strong focus on leadership. It is important that you have experience in and the ability to create clarity, engagement, and direction while building trust, participation, and good relationships. Qualifications You have at least three years of relevant work experience, including experience with government authority work. You are an experienced manager accustomed to leading and achieving results through others, at a strategic level. You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose possible solutions, and you use your analysis to methodically plan and implement solutions going forward. We are looking for someone motivated by learning new things and developing. You come up with new ideas and take initiative for improvements. You have experience communicating information and ideas to others, both verbally and in writing. It is therefore a requirement that you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. It is important that you take responsibility for your own area while having the ability to place your department's significance in a larger context within the entire administration. As a department manager, you are motivated by driving development with clearly defined goals and have the ability to transform these into concrete action. It is an advantage if you have experience working in municipal administration and understanding of municipal management and governance. It is also an advantage if you have experience with change management and good knowledge of Office 365.
