The unit's mission includes providing support to students and prospective students before, during, and after their studies through guidance, admissions, exams, and degree conferral. The Education Unit also provides support and services to departments and faculties in managing educational administration matters. We are now looking for you to work as an exam proctor! As an exam proctor/assistant, you will be part of the Exam Section, which today consists of administrators and exam proctors who work in the university's shared exam halls. More information about the section can be found here:

Job Responsibilities
As an exam proctor, you are responsible for ensuring that students writing exams in the University of Gothenburg's shared exam halls can do so in a legally secure manner. You ensure that exams can be started and submitted correctly (either digitally or on paper), verify that the student is registered for the respective exam and has valid identification. Your role as an exam proctor also includes working to detect any potentially fraudulent behavior and reporting such cases.
As an exam proctor you meet many students, so correct and professional conduct is important. It is natural for you to treat all students respectfully, and at University of Gothenburg we have zero tolerance for all forms of discrimination and demeaning treatment.
Qualifications
For this position, you must have experience with exam proctor duties at a university or college.
As an exam proctor, you must have strong command of Swedish and English, both spoken and written. It is an asset if you are familiar with the examination regulations at University of Gothenburg as well as the Discrimination Act.
As an exam proctor you always work in a team, which requires good collaboration skills. In addition, we are looking for someone who is thorough, flexible, and can handle a work environment where the pace can sometimes be high. As a person, you are clear and treat students in a professional manner. You are confident in yourself and can also handle confrontations that may arise in exam situations. You are attentive and must be prepared to intervene at any suspected breach of rules to ensure the quality of the operation.
Today, the majority of exams in the exam hall are conducted digitally (approximately 90%), while paper exams make up a smaller portion. Digital exams are conducted in a digital system in which you as an exam proctor also work. A prerequisite is therefore that you are comfortable working in various digital systems and can quickly learn new technology and new programs and integrate them into your work. Within University of Gothenburg, work is primarily conducted in a Windows environment, but many students use Mac computers.
During digital exam hall exams, you as an exam proctor are responsible for IT support to students. This means that you need to be able to handle connection to the wireless network, installation and updates of specific programs, and have knowledge of operating systems. IT support also includes helping students manage the system in which digital exams are written.
As an exam proctor with us, you cannot be a student at bachelor's or master's level at University of Gothenburg or at another college/university.
Employment
The employment is a temporary position with placement in the Exam Section at the Education Unit. Start date October 1, 2026, or by agreement and ends December 31, 2027. Your official job title at the university will be Assistant.
The employment is part-time with a scope of 50%. Working hours are arranged according to operational needs and are determined as much as possible through dialogue between employer and employee. Monthly salary is provided.
The position may be possible to combine with other part-time work.
Exams are conducted in principle daily, including weekends and certain evenings. You will therefore work according to a schedule where the number of working hours per week and month will vary according to operational needs.
