Technical Buyer (m/f)
DigiDay Group s.r.o. · Full-time
Ostrava, Czech Republic
Contact by email or phone. We are looking for someone who understands electronics and knows how to procure it. Requirements: technical knowledge of electronics and fluent English in both spoken and written form. Who we are: DigiDay is a Czech manufacturer of digital communication technologies. Since 2017, we have been manufacturing, installing, and servicing electronic notice boards, LED displays, touch kiosks, and information systems for municipalities, cities, schools, senior facilities, and companies. We have completed over 1,500 projects in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, and more than 1,270 local governments trust us. We are not resellers. We have our own manufacturing, our own software, and our own service team. Purchasing with us is therefore not administrative order processing - it is technical decision-making about what is best for our clients. What you will do - Understand what you are purchasing. Electronic components and modules, LED modules and drivers, power supplies, control and communication cards, touch displays, cabling and connectors, mechanical parts and structures, materials for shielding and cooling. - Translate technical requirements into inquiries. A designer will tell you what they need. You will create an inquiry in English that the supplier understands precisely as intended - including tolerances, shielding, temperature range, lifespan, and required certifications. - Search for and select suppliers in the Czech Republic and abroad, conduct request for quotation processes, compare offers not only by price but by total cost and risk. - Negotiate prices, delivery times, payment and claim conditions - mostly in English, by phone and email. - Handle technical claims with suppliers. Describe the defect so the other party understands it, document it, and push for resolution. - Monitor deadlines and inventory in relation to the production and installation schedule. - Work daily with production, design, and service on component replacements, specification changes, and supply quality. - Gradually take on responsibility for the cost side of products - find savings that do not reduce quality or lifespan. What we need from you - without this it won't work - Real knowledge of electronics. You understand the basics of electrical engineering, you know what a power supply is, a driver, a control board, the difference between voltage and power, what IP rating means and why temperature range is important for outdoor electronics. This is an entry requirement, not something we will teach you. - Ability to talk with technicians as colleagues. Our designers and service technicians speak technically and will not simplify it for you. You must be able to navigate it, ask targeted questions, and pass information on correctly. - Ability to convey technical information to suppliers. Precisely, unambiguously, in writing and over the phone, in English. Inaccurately specified inquiries are our most expensive mistake in the entire process. - English at a level where you can call a supplier without preparation and discuss a technical detail with them - both spoken and written. - Experience with procurement. You know how to conduct a request for quotation process, how to negotiate prices, and what is hidden in delivery and claim conditions. - Willingness to go into technical details further than necessary. We expect that within a year you will learn how our products work down to the level of individual components, specifications, and their interdependencies. Those who do not want to learn will not do this job well. - Attention to detail and independence. You will monitor deadlines and details even without anyone checking on you. Advantages - Technical education - electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics, mechanical engineering. - Experience in technical operations, manufacturing, design, or service of electronics - including a path from a technician position to procurement. - Experience with procurement of electronics or components from Asia. - Knowledge of working with ERP or other inventory management systems. - Ability to read schematics and manufacturing drawings. What we offer - Salary 40,000 Kč per month after the trial period. During the trial period, the salary is 36,000 Kč. - Flexible working hours and occasional opportunity to work from home. - Technical training directly in production. You will go through the products with people who build, install, and service them from component to finished board in the field. Not a catalog, but a manufacturing hall. - And more.
