Do you want to be part of developing the agile working methods of the future at SMHI? We're looking for an experienced team coach who wants to create conditions for engaged teams, sustainable deliveries, and digital solutions that make a difference for the entire society.
About SMHI and IT Development
SMHI's operations involve collecting weather, water, and climate-related data that we analyze and visualize to create decision-making foundations for decision-makers and citizens. Our vision is a vibrant and safer society - through reliable knowledge in weather, water, and climate.
The IT Development unit consists of approximately 55 employees with roles such as systems developers, UX designers, team coaches, and project managers. Work is performed in self-organizing teams and teams are often responsible for the entire chain – from idea to operation. We are now facing new challenges as we strive to further develop our agile culture. We are therefore looking for a team coach who wants to contribute to continued development.
About the Position
As a team coach, you support multiple development teams in their agile work and help them create effective working methods, strong collaboration, and sustainable deliveries. You work closely with teams, product owners, stakeholders, managers, and other team coaches. The role offers great variety and the opportunity to influence both team development and SMHI's continued agile journey.
You will, among other things:
Coach teams in agile working methods and principles
Facilitate planning sessions, daily meetings, and retrospectives
Support teams in identifying and removing obstacles
Create transparency around priorities and deliveries
Develop collaboration within and between teams
Drive continuous improvements in working methods and processes
Contribute to a culture characterized by learning, transparency, feedback, and psychological safety
Initially, you will facilitate two teams and be part of SMHI's continued agile transformation.
About You
We're looking for someone with several years of work experience in agile coaching of software development teams as a team coach, scrum master, team lead, or similar role. You need to have a foundation in a post-secondary education in systems development and/or leadership, or alternatively have acquired equivalent competence in other ways.
Other requirements are:
Work experience and the ability to implement increased team autonomy, shorter lead times, better quality, and increased psychological safety
Knowledge and work experience with Kanban and/or Scrum
Have a data-driven working approach and suggest changes based on facts
Knowledge of agile working methods and agile culture
Have a servant leadership mindset
Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written
Merits include work experience in:
Agile transformation
Value stream analysis
Coaching leadership according to an established method, such as GROW or NÖHRAfun
Experience from a scientific organization
Knowledge of group development, such as through the IMGD model or similar model
For you to fit and thrive in the role, we believe you are someone who is driven by creating good conditions for others to succeed. You have a genuine interest in people, collaboration, and development, and are motivated by helping teams reach their full potential. We see that you have very good collaboration skills and build trusting relationships with people in different roles and contexts. You are attentive, communicate clearly, and have the ability to translate between technology, operations, and management.
You need to take initiative easily and take great responsibility for both your own work and team development. You take responsibility for driving improvements, capturing obstacles, and creating momentum, both for the teams and the organization. Because we work in an operation that is constantly evolving, you need to be flexible and thrive in an environment where conditions and priorities can change. You see possibilities in change and have the ability to adapt your working approach based on the needs of the teams and the organization.
