About International English School Växjö
International English School (IES) Växjö is part of Sweden's largest and most successful network of bilingual schools and admits students in grades F–9. IES Växjö has approximately 300 students and 35 employees. We follow the Swedish curriculum, Lgr22, and up to 50 percent of instruction takes place in English.

As a teacher of Swedish as Second Language (SVA), you will play a central role in providing SVA students with a safe and structured access to their Swedish language instruction.
We are seeking a person who is a confident and clear leader with a good understanding of multilingualism and second language learning.
- plan, conduct, and evaluate instruction in Swedish as a Second Language (SVA)
- assess and monitor students' linguistic and academic development
- create individually tailored instructional plans based on students' needs
- teach individually, in small groups, and, when needed, through co-teaching in the regular classroom
- identify the need for further adaptations and special support
- work closely with subject teachers, mentors, special education teachers, the student welfare team, and school leadership
- support colleagues in their work with language-developing teaching methods and differentiated instruction
- maintain close and clear communication with parents and guardians about students' language development and progress in school
- document, monitor, and evaluate student progress
- work in accordance with IES's three core values: Mastery of the English Language, A Safe and Orderly Environment, and High Academic Expectations.
You have the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with students of different ages. You see possibilities and strengths in a multicultural school environment and have high expectations for all students' ability to develop.
You are organized, flexible, and analytical. You can work independently but also enjoy collaborating with colleagues on student development and needs.
We are ideally looking for someone who has SVA competence and significant experience teaching SVA.

- a teacher's degree and teaching qualifications, preferably with qualifications to teach Swedish as a Second Language
- knowledge of newly arrived students' learning and language development
- good understanding of relevant guidelines and assessment materials
- good ability to communicate in English, as English is a common working language at the school
- good digital skills and experience with pedagogical documentation
- Experience teaching students in different age groups
- Experience working with students with special needs, additional adaptations, and special support
- Experience working in an international or bilingual school environment
- an international and stimulating work environment with colleagues from around the world
- the opportunity to develop and shape the school's work with preparatory classes and newly arrived students
- clear structures and a shared working approach
