About Internationella Engelska Skolan Kista
Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) Kista is part of Sweden's largest and most successful network of bilingual schools and admits students in grades F–9. IES Kista has approximately 640 students and 79 employees. We follow the Swedish curriculum, Lgr22, and up to 50 percent of instruction takes place in English.

About the Position
As a teacher in our preparatory class, you play a central role in providing newly arrived and multilingual students with a safe and structured start in the Swedish school system.
The role includes:
- planning, conducting, and evaluating Swedish as a Second Language instruction for preparatory class students
- assessing and monitoring students' linguistic and academic development
- creating individually adapted teaching plans based on student needs
- teaching individually, in small groups, and when needed through team teaching in regular classes
- identifying needs for additional accommodations and specialized support
- collaborating closely with subject teachers, mentors, special educators, student support teams, and school leadership
- supporting colleagues in implementing language-development approaches and differentiated instruction
- maintaining close and clear communication with guardians regarding student language development and school progress
- documenting, following up, and evaluating student development
- working in accordance with IES's three core values: Command of the English Language, A Safe and Orderly Environment, and High Academic Expectations.

We are looking for someone who is a confident and clear leader with a good understanding of multilingualism, second language acquisition, and the learning needs of newly arrived students.
You have the ability to build strong and trusting relationships with students of different ages. You see opportunities and strengths in a multicultural school environment and have high expectations for all students' ability to develop.
You are organized, flexible, and analytical. You can work independently but also enjoy collaborating with colleagues on student development and needs.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- a teaching degree and teaching certification with authorization to teach Swedish as a Second Language
- knowledge of newly arrived students' learning and language development
- good familiarity with relevant curriculum documents and assessment materials
- strong ability to communicate in English, as English is a shared working language at the school
- good digital competence and experience with educational documentation
It is particularly valuable if you have:
- a special education teacher degree, preferably with a focus on language, writing, and reading development
- experience working in a preparatory class
- experience teaching students in multiple age groups
- experience assessing the knowledge of newly arrived students
- experience in specialized educational work, additional accommodations, and specialized support
- experience working in an international or bilingual school environment
