About Internationella Engelska Skolan Älvsjö Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) Älvsjö is a bilingual primary school with an international atmosphere where students and staff from many different parts of the world meet. The school has approximately 700 students in grades 4–9 and around 70 staff members. We follow the Swedish curriculum (Lgr22), where up to half of the instruction is conducted in English. Our operations are built on high academic ambitions, clear expectations, and a strong belief that safety and study peace are the foundation for learning. We want to give every student the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed – both in school and in the future. About the Position As a substitute teacher with us, you get varied and developmental work. Depending on the day's needs, you can, among other things: - Teach and lead lessons in various theoretical and practical subjects for students in grades 4–9 based on the regular teacher's planning. - Supervise lunch and recess and contribute to a safe and positive school environment. - Support after-school activities for grades 4–5. - Create structure, work peace, and good relationships in the classroom. - Be a visible and present adult in the school's common areas. - Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to ensure a well-functioning school day. Lessons typically run between 08:00 and 16:00. The after-school program is open until 17:30. Working hours vary based on the school's needs and your availability. Qualifications - You have completed upper secondary education. Begun or completed pedagogical education is highly meritorious. - Since IES is a bilingual school, it is an advantage if you are proficient in both Swedish and English in speech and writing. - You are responsible, flexible, organized, and punctual. - You work well collaboratively and build good relationships with both students and colleagues. - You have a natural ability to lead groups and be a safe, clear adult role model. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Previous experience working with children and young people is an asset, but not a requirement. What is most important to us is that you have a genuine commitment to young people and want to contribute to a safe and positive school environment.
