Tax Accountant at Major Bank in Stockholm

You will have a key role with responsibility for tax management and reporting across multiple Nordic operations, while also having the opportunity to contribute to process development, regulatory compliance, and continued business growth. The Tax Accountant Role As a Tax Accountant, you will be part of the bank's Accounting & Tax function and work closely with colleagues in accounting, Business Control, and other key functions. You will have overall responsibility for ensuring correct handling and reporting of tax matters with a focus on Nordic operations, as well as from a broader group perspective. The role combines operational responsibility with complex tax matters where you will have the opportunity to analyze intricate regulations, contribute to business development, and drive improvement initiatives. Examples of Responsibilities Responsible for preparing tax calculations for operations in Sweden and Norway. Participate in the development and implementation of tax calculations related to new business structures and branches. Responsible for preparing and filing VAT returns in Sweden and Norway. Ensure correct accounting of taxes in monthly and annual financial statements as well as internal and external reporting. Support the business with tax-related matters throughout the project and transaction lifecycle. Communicate with the Swedish Tax Agency, other authorities, external advisors, and auditors. Participate in and drive projects related to new regulations, legislative changes, and business changes. Identify and implement improvements in processes, internal controls, and reporting. Your Background, Experience, and Qualifications We are looking for someone with an academic degree in economics, accounting, finance, or equivalent, plus several years of experience in advanced tax work. If you have experience from banking, the financial sector, or other regulated industries, that is a plus. To succeed in this role, we see that you: Have strong knowledge of corporate tax and VAT. Have experience with tax accounting, tax calculations, and tax reporting. Enjoy analyzing and handling complex tax matters and translating regulations into business solutions. Have strong analytical skills and work in a structured and thorough manner. Are communicative and build trusting relationships easily with various stakeholders. Enjoy working independently while also appreciating close collaboration across teams and borders. Communicate fluently in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
