About the unit The 161st Air Defense and Command Battalion's primary responsibility is to oversee surveillance of Swedish airspace and air combat operations; the battalion is daily engaged in operational activities. Other tasks include operation and protection of fortified command centers and deployment of mobile sensors and radio systems throughout Sweden. The Battalion Staff works primarily on coordination and preparation of matters at all conflict levels, from peace to war. The staff consists of four sections, one of which is the SIS section that works with communications and command support systems. The section's task is to work with, among other things, planning of the battalion's activities such as communications and command support systems in our facilities and installations where IT plays an essential role. Main responsibilities The position as Systems Engineer involves broad and varied work within the entire command systems area. You will work with, among other things, accreditations and implementation of command systems, integration with NATO systems and various cryptographic systems. You will also provide support in developing new systems and process development. The role includes some administrative tasks as well as more practical technical work as needed. For this you will need to build a broad network of contacts through regular collaboration with other personnel at the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV. REQUIREMENTS Qualifications Higher education in IT/systems science or equivalent education/experience that the employer deems equivalent Documented work experience in the IT field Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English Class B driver's license Personal qualities We are looking for a confident, unpretentious, and innovative person with good communication and social skills. MERITORIOUS QUALIFICATIONS Experience from the Swedish Armed Forces and larger organizations – includes service or work within the Swedish Armed Forces or other government agencies. Systems and security expertise - good knowledge of the Swedish Armed Forces' command systems and experience with flight safety-critical systems. Business development – experience in business development and establishment of new operations.
