The Department of Food and Sports Science (IKI) conducts undergraduate education, research, doctoral studies, and collaborative projects within sports science and food science. More information about the department can be found on our website https://www.gu.se/kostvetenskap-idrottsvetenskap The Department of Food and Sports Science is now seeking an academic advisor for a temporary position. Duties The duties as an academic advisor consist of both administrative tasks and contact with prospective and enrolled students in the teacher education programs in home and consumer knowledge and physical education and health, as well as students at advanced level in food science and sports science. Examples of duties include: monitoring study performance, assessing applications, reviewing eligibility, handling credit transfers, admissions, study planning for individual students, compiling statistics, preparations for course registration and welcome information, advising registered and prospective students, serving as a contact for student social matters, planning and developing study-related information and communication. Other tasks within the scope of academic support responsibilities may also occur. The work involves close collaboration with other staff members. Qualifications We are looking for you with: A degree from a university or higher education institution that the employer considers relevant, preferably in academic and vocational guidance. Good knowledge of university and higher education. Good knowledge of and ability to apply applicable regulations relevant to the position. Experience with academic advising in higher education and knowledge of the university's organization. Good communication skills, ability to express yourself well in speech and writing, in both Swedish and English. Good computer skills in the Office package. Good experience with digital meetings in Zoom/Teams. Meritorious: Experience with academic advising at a university/college with teacher education students and advanced level students. Experience with academic advising at a university/college in food and sports science subjects. Experience working with international students. Experience with and skill in the university's student administration systems such as Ladok, NyA, Canvas, and study planning and practicum websites, and preferably also SharePoint. Employment The employment is a fixed-term position (temporary contract) for 12 months, or until the regular employee returns to duty; extension may be possible, part-time at 75% of full-time, placed at the Department of Food and Sports Science.
