The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is an authority responsible for individualized coercive care for youth with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS youth home Vemyra, located outside Sollefteå, receives school-aged boys up to 16 years old with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse. Job Description We are looking for a career and education counselor who wants to make a vital difference—are you the one we're looking for? For us, the role of career and education counselor is an important position given the students we work with who need knowledge about future professions and career choices. Only a few have previously had contact with a career and education counselor and have limited knowledge about opportunities in the job market. Therefore, internships are especially important and part of your assignment. We want our youth to become aware of their own talents and strengths, and gain competence and knowledge to make well-founded choices for their further studies or work. Your role includes conducting motivating counseling conversations both individually and in groups, external contacts within the business sector, and being part of the transition process. This means being involved in the process and creating opportunities so that the young person is adapted into society with contacts that are beneficial for them and their future professional life. You work closely with our teachers and treatment staff, with a particular focus on motivation and guidance—in short, being the link between school/treatment and the student's future goals. It's a challenge but extremely interesting work! Qualifications Your personal suitability is key to vital change. To succeed in the role of career and education counselor with us, you need to be an open person who easily builds trustful relationships with others, inspires security and humility in the assignment. Therefore, you need to be a warm, empathetic person driven by a strong inner passion and desire to create outstanding results. You easily see the big picture but can also work between parts, details, and the whole. You like working systematically and well-planned, but can be flexible when needed. Even though you collaborate in your role, you need to be comfortable working independently as well. Being a colleague who shares knowledge and contributes to the team spirit at SiS are other qualities that make you interesting. Equally important is that you have a firmly grounded positive view of people and an ability to handle conflicts in a constructive manner. Requirements: You have a university degree in career and education counseling. Category B driver's license. Meritorious: Experience working as a career and education counselor.
