Career and Educational Counselor at Tegelviken School and Zetterberg Gymnasium

Would you like to guide young people in their future educational and career choices? We are now looking for a career and educational counselor for a position shared between Tegelviken School and Zetterberg Gymnasium. The position is divided 50 percent at each school, which means you will be part of two engaged organizations and their student welfare teams. Tegelviken is a primary school with approximately 60 employees and 490 students. The school is located in Kvicksund, about two miles northwest of Eskilstuna. Our students come from both Västmanland and Sörmland. In addition to strong academic results, Tegelviken focuses on safety, study environment, and student well-being. Tegelviken students help each other and others succeed, which means you will have well-educated, ambitious, and engaged colleagues with high expectations for collaboration and participation. Zetterberg Gymnasium is located in a beautiful historic building close to bus and train connections in central Eskilstuna at Tullgatan 2. The school accommodates up to 600 students from various primary schools and different municipalities, making us an exciting meeting place. At our school, we strive to offer digitalization, technological development, and business connections at the forefront. We offer university and vocational preparatory education in the form of business programs, hotel and tourism programs, sales and service programs, and introductory programs. WORK DUTIES As a career and educational counselor, you guide and motivate students regarding their future educational and career choices through individual conversations, group information, and classroom visits. You work closely with students, guardians, teachers, school management, and other professionals within student welfare. Work duties include, among others: • Individual career and educational counseling conversations. • Conversations with students and guardians regarding gymnasium selection. • Class information and information meetings for students and guardians. • Planning and administration of work experience in grades 8 and 9. • Responsibility for transitions to gymnasium. • Participation in gymnasium fairs in Eskilstuna and Västerås. • Involvement in Job Circus and other activities related to educational and career choices. • Collaboration with primary schools, gymnasiums, universities, and other external actors. • Participation in the municipality's career guidance network. • Work in student welfare teams/close collaboration with schools' student welfare teams and cooperation with the school's various professionals. Since students at Tegelviken School also apply for gymnasium education in Västerås, collaboration with Västerås city regarding gymnasium information and admission is included. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a degree as a career and educational counselor or other relevant higher education that the employer deems equivalent. It is an advantage if you have: • Experience working as a career and educational counselor. • Experience working with young people. • Experience working in student welfare teams. • Digital competence such as the gymnasium admission system INDRA as well as system knowledge with experience from Edlevo or similar. • Good knowledge of gymnasium and primary school regulatory documents. As a person, you are relationship-building, structured, and self-directed. You have a coaching approach and work solution-oriented. You find it easy to create trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues and enjoy collaborating with different professionals. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
