Nyköping Gymnasium is the largest upper secondary school in Nyköping. We offer eleven national programs—six of which are vocational programs—four different introductory programs, and a special upper secondary program. DUTIES
We are seeking an engaged and knowledgeable career and educational counselor who values collaboration with other school professionals.
Nyköping Gymnasium is located at three different sites in the city: Nico, Gripen, and Skavsta. Therefore, it is desirable that you have a driver's license to transport yourself between buildings when needed.
The school's career and educational counselor is part of the school's student support team, whose overarching responsibility under the Education Act is to help create environments that promote student learning, development, and wellbeing. This includes working with school leadership to develop routines and goals for the school as a whole and establishing procedures for planning, monitoring, and developing guidance in alignment with national and local objectives.
As a career and educational counselor, you work to help students make well-informed choices about their future studies and careers, both individually and in groups. Your guidance should be objective and counter limitations based on gender or social or cultural background. You will also present the school's educational programs to ninth-grade students in the school's catchment area.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a degree from a career and educational counseling program. Personal suitability and collaboration skills are important factors in our recruitment.
We believe that to thrive in this role, you must have strong commitment to young people's life situations and an interest in preventive outreach work. You work well with both school staff and external contacts. You have a strong ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as work effectively in both larger and smaller groups. You communicate well with young people, both individually and in groups. You are well-versed in the school's governing documents and have knowledge of social services laws and regulations.
