Student Assistant - Historical Scanned Road Drawings in GIS

Work Tasks As a student assistant with us, you will work in a GIS environment. Your assignment consists of selecting and labeling drawings of interest to the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), and then, as the primary task, rectifying these drawings. Trafikverket has had road construction drawings scanned in from the 1940s through the 2000s. The drawings describe road construction and its components. The material was scanned by the National Archives (Riksarkivet) and delivered to Trafikverket as image files (PDFA). The geographic placement of these drawings, which are collected by road construction project or parts thereof, has been done mainly as summer work in recent years. Road sections show where various scanned drawings are stored. Now it's time to take the next step and place the drawings in their correct geographic locations. Qualifications Who Are You? You are solution-oriented and have the ability to understand various work tasks. You are motivated by active participation where you take responsibility for your assignments in a purposeful way while being aware of how you are part of and contribute to the whole by collaborating with others. You study full-time at university level in GIS, Land Surveying, Geographic IT, or Civil Engineering and have completed at least 60 university credits You have experience and knowledge working in an ArcGIS environment You have relevant work experience with historical maps, geographic data management, and rectification You must not have started doctoral studies Additional Information As part of our team, you will work 25%, which corresponds to approximately 10 hours per week.
