Student Worker - Historical Scanned Road Drawings in GIS

Job Responsibilities As a student worker with us, you'll work in a GIS environment. Your tasks will include selecting and naming drawings of interest to the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), and then, as your primary responsibility, rectifying these drawings. Trafikverket has scanned historical road construction drawings from the 1940s through the 2000s. These drawings describe road construction and component specifications. The materials were scanned by the National Archives (Riksarkivet) and delivered to Trafikverket as image files (PDFA). The geographic placement of these drawings, which are collected by road construction project or parts thereof, has been primarily handled as summer work in recent years. Road sections indicate where various scanned drawings are stored. Now it's time to take the next step and geographically correct the placement of these drawings. Qualifications Who are you? You are solution-oriented and have the ability to quickly understand different work tasks. You are motivated by active participation, where you take responsibility for your assignments in a goal-oriented manner while being mindful of how you contribute to the bigger picture through collaboration with others. You are a full-time student at university level in GIS, Land Surveying, or Geodata, and have completed at least 60 university credits You have experience and knowledge working in an ArcGIS environment You have relevant work experience with historical maps, geographic data management, and rectification You have not started doctoral studies Additional Information As part of our team, you will work 25%, which corresponds to approximately 10 hours per week. We understand the importance of adapting work hours to your studies, so we will discuss scheduling together to ensure it fits your needs and academic schedule. The position runs for one semester.
