Description:

Umeå Municipality currently operates six short-term residences in accordance with the Act on Support and Services for Persons with Certain Disabilities (LSS) for children and young people. At our short-term residences, we support children and youth in developing their independence based on their individual circumstances. Sveagatan is a facility that offers short-term stays for young people according to LSS. The purpose of the service is to provide relief for family members while giving young people a change of environment, community, and the opportunity to develop their independence. We are now seeking a support assistant to join our dedicated team! Your Tasks As a support assistant, you work alongside colleagues to strengthen young people's ability to live as independently as possible. The tasks vary and may include both social and practical support depending on each young person's needs. You participate in planning and implementing meaningful activities such as sports, walks, cultural events, crafts, or games. Your duties also include assistance with personal hygiene, household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and dishwashing, as well as documenting according to established procedures. The work involves being very active throughout the day, and heavy lifting and transfers may occur in the workplace. You also need to be prepared to handle situations where challenging behavior, threats, or violence may occur. You collaborate with colleagues and maintain a professional approach toward service users, family members, and other stakeholders. Cooperation and joint planning with other support and care services occur regularly. Work hours are scheduled for day, evening, weekends, and the position includes on-call duty. About You We are looking for someone who is calm, confident, and engaged—with a focus on the target group. You have strong collaboration skills, a professional demeanor, and enjoy working closely with colleagues, service users, and family members. You are aware that building relationships takes time and use creativity and playfulness in your interactions. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. Requirements: - Completed care and nursing program, children and leisure program, social work program, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer. - Experience working with people with disabilities. - Strong Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, to enable communication with service users, family members, and colleagues, and to write and access care documentation.
