Support Assistant, Ostvägen Short-Term Residence

The Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource that releases and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through proximity and collaboration. Short-term stays are one of the services under the LSS (Act on Support and Services for Persons with Certain Disabilities) designed to provide children/youth with a change of environment and recreation as well as to relieve families. The activity aims to support individuals with disabilities and strengthen their ability to live an independent life. This is accomplished by offering a change of environment and opportunities for leisure activities, recreation, and social community in a safe and home-like setting. Ostvägen is a short-term residence for children with intellectual disabilities. The target group encompasses a broad spectrum of neuropsychiatric, mental, and physical disabilities. The residence is located in a rental building with capacity for four children per day in the age range 6-14 years. During their stay, children have their own bedroom and access to shared spaces. The surrounding area features playgrounds and green spaces. Your Work Tasks As a team member at Ostvägen Short-Term Residence, you are part of a work group committed to creating a safe, meaningful, and developmental stay for children and young people. Together with your colleagues, you support individuals' ability to live as independently as possible and contribute to a safe and stimulating environment. You plan and conduct activities such as walks, play, crafts, and games to promote social participation and create meaningful leisure time. Your work also includes routine household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care/intimate hygiene. An important part of the work is collaborating and communicating with parents and ensuring that each child receives the support they need. The work also includes documentation, record keeping, development of implementation plans, and medication management. Working hours are scheduled during days, evenings, weekends, and on-call combinations. Coordinated planning may occur between our operations. Requirements Education in care and support, children and leisure, social work program, preschool teacher education, teacher education, or other equivalent education that the employer deems equivalent. Experience working with the target group of people with disabilities within LSS, school, or other work that the employer deems equivalent. To communicate with users, relatives, and colleagues, write, and access care documentation, you must have very good Swedish language skills in both spoken and written form. Merits Experience working with children and young people with disabilities. Experience working with clarifying pedagogy. Experience working with low-affective communication. Experience working with Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC).
