The Defence Medicine Centre (FömedC) is the Swedish Armed Forces' centre for the defence medicine function, located in Gothenburg. Defence medicine encompasses all activities that the Swedish Armed Forces conduct within health and medical care, health protection and veterinary medicine.
About the Unit
The Swedish Armed Forces' combat school for defence medicine (FSS) at FömedC in Gothenburg is a Swedish Armed Forces-wide resource that conducts training, exercises and drills in defence medicine below the surface, on the surface, on land and in the air.
FSS consists of three departments: the Training Department, the Exercise Department and the Simulation and Methods Department. The Training Department conducts courses, training and quality assures defence medical training conducted at other units within the Swedish Armed Forces. The Exercise Department plans, conducts and evaluates training and exercises in defence medicine. The Simulation and Methods Department conducts training, education and development of advanced defence medical simulation and pedagogical methods in order to train qualified medical units of military units. The most advanced defence medical simulation is conducted through Live Tissue Training, which is used in accordance with the 3Rs and the Animal Welfare Act as well as FM internal regulations.
The position is placed in the Simulation and Methods Department.
Main Duties
As Deputy Department Chief of the Simulation and Methods Department, you will primarily assist the Department Chief in leading and distributing work in the department. This includes leading planning, implementation, development and follow-up of training and exercise activities as well as supervising personnel in the department, but also in FSS, particularly in the role of exercise leader/course leader for larger exercises or training.
Qualifications
Approved officer degree OF 1-2/SO 6-7
Experience in personnel management
Experience in planning and conducting training and exercises
Category B driver's license
Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in English
Meritorious
Experience in leading and conducting training in defence medicine
Familiarity with using the Office package, Swedish Armed Forces internal systems PRIO and VIDAR
Previous military service abroad.

FömedC consists of a management with staff, the Swedish Armed Forces combat school for defence medicine (FSS), the Functional Unit (FunkE) and the Hospital Battalion (Sjhbat). At the centre there is licensed health and medical care personnel such as doctors, veterinarians, nurses and more. Here there are officers, reserve officers, civilian staff and conscripts. The Defence Medicine Centre is part of Gothenburg Garrison.
