Description
The Psychiatric Clinic consists of inpatient care with a 24-hour emergency reception and psychiatric outpatient services in Falköping, Skövde, Lidköping and Mariestad. The 24-hour care includes four wards with a total of 58 beds in completely new and modern facilities at Skaraborg Hospital in Skövde, plus an additional 33 beds within forensic psychiatry in Falköping.
We train AT and BT doctors and in recent years have consistently received top grades, which continuously attracts new ST doctors. We continuously work to develop our processes and work purposefully to achieve full doctor staffing.

Adult Psychiatry at Skaraborg Hospital is now seeking additional recruitment to our ST doctor group.
We are looking for you who are genuinely interested in the disease conditions that affect brain function, and who want to be part of developing our operations. You will be part of a strong and cohesive medical team with the ambition to become one of Sweden's best psychiatric clinics.

Introduction by the ST study director and review of the ST training plan. Regular supervision by a designated specialist supervisor. Great opportunities to participate in regional and national courses, which are prioritized so that ST training can be completed in 5 years. Opportunity to attend a major international psychiatry conference during ST training. Specialization within an area of special interest if available.
Work tasks
Within inpatient care, you work together with senior physicians and perform diagnostic assessments, deepen your knowledge of psychiatric treatment and applied psychiatric law, and participate in the medical management of the ward. Supervision of students, junior colleagues and AT doctors is seen as a natural part of your work tasks. As an ST doctor, you become a key person in ensuring the daily work on the ward runs smoothly, and you have close contact with nurses and nursing assistants.
During the ST period, you will have a longer placement at one of the four psychiatric outpatient clinics. Work within psychiatric outpatient care is based on senior physician-led multidisciplinary teams where patients are divided by diagnosis and receive tailored treatment. You independently follow up patients over time, deepen your knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, and handle more acute matters such as medical fitness assessments and home visits. In outpatient care too, you work with the support of the senior physician for the respective team.
As an ST doctor, you are expected to be part of the facility's ongoing internal training program – both for other staff groups and of course the many training doctors who pass through the clinic.
The role of ST doctor also includes on-call duties at the psychiatric emergency reception.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who are a licensed doctor with an interest and curiosity in adult psychiatry and who see psychiatry as your future specialty.
If you are qualified or licensed outside the EU/EEA, you must have authorization to work as a doctor in Sweden. If you are studying to be a doctor abroad, the requirement is that you study within the EU. Great weight will be placed on personal suitability.
Other
Interviews are held on an ongoing basis. We always check criminal and financial records before employment. The extract is ordered by the employer. If a special order from the National Board of Health and Welfare is needed, this is handled by the employer.
