Your New Role
We are now seeking a qualified special education teacher for the upper secondary level at Österbergsskolan. You are well-versed in the school's governing documents and can implement them in daily work. You have a genuine interest in students' development and learning, see possibilities, are flexible, dare to try new approaches, and have strong collaboration skills. You must have knowledge of literacy instruction and mathematics education.
As a special education teacher, you will work with pedagogical development, serve on the school's student support team, provide guidance to staff, and work actively with students—including assessments, individual support, and developing intervention plans. In addition to this position, there is another special education teacher at the school.
Your Responsibilities
Work individually and in groups providing special education support to students.
Guide staff on special education interventions, such as extra accommodations and literacy development methods.
Develop extra accommodations for students and instruct teachers—for example, help develop appropriate materials and create time-management aids.
Assess students and instruct teachers on assessment procedures, such as screening.
Responsible for pedagogical assessments and evaluations, and assist the principal with intervention plans.
Participate in the student support team and student support meetings.
Lead certain development initiatives in this area—for example, develop assessment/screening plans, observe students and classrooms to improve learning environments and teaching methods.
Assist the principal with resource allocation and scheduling.
This position primarily serves grades 7-9 but may involve work across the entire school unit (grades 4-9).
Your Qualifications
Requirements
Licensed special education teacher
Strong knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
Good relationship-building skills
Strong collaboration ability
Merits
Good knowledge of digital work and computer proficiency
Previous experience as a special education teacher
Experience working in upper elementary/middle school
Experience working with students who struggle to meet learning objectives in elementary school.
