As a special education teacher at Vallhamra School grades 7–9, you are an important resource with significant opportunities to influence the school's development work at the organizational, group, and individual levels in close collaboration with the principal. The goal is to ensure all students have the best conditions for teaching and learning to successfully complete their studies. In close collaboration with the principal, you will develop the organization's special education work. You will have a clear special education focus that will be developed and anchored at the school. At Vallhamra School, we work to develop instruction and achievement targets in mathematics as well as to learn more about pedagogy and didactics for accessible learning environments, and about relational leadership. You will become a key person in strengthening teachers' competence to meet students with different needs, abilities, and opportunities. Two-Teacher Model and Instructional Development At Vallhamra School, we aim to have two educators in lessons to the greatest extent possible. We want to develop this collaboration between educators, where the special education teacher becomes an important key person in, for example, mentoring. Student Support Team and Collaboration The special education teacher will have overall responsibility for pedagogical interventions and collaborate with teachers, the principal, the student support team, and other functions. You will be part of the student support team for grades 7–9, consisting of special education teachers, school nurse, school counselor, school psychologist, assistant principal, and principal. The team works closely together and collaborates closely with both students, teachers, and guardians. The student support team takes a preventive, supportive, and intervention-oriented approach and works at both group and individual levels, including school attendance, teacher and guardian professional development. Responsibilities Include screening plans, analysis and feedback to teachers/principal/student support team, pedagogical assessments, intervention programs together with special education teachers, documentation in Prorenata, meeting coordination, and systematic attendance work. You participate in subject-specific collegium, networks, and work team meetings. Special focus areas of the role: drive and anchor development that strengthens mathematics achievement targets through analysis, intervention proposals, mentoring, and follow-up strengthen the school's ability to meet students with different needs, abilities, and opportunities in various subjects (structure, clarity, adaptations, approach, and didactic strategies) contribute to increased teacher competence in creating conditions for improved mathematics achievement targets, for example through two-teacher models where appropriate Qualifications We are looking for someone with special education training and good knowledge of relevant legislation. You have strong knowledge and experience of special education work. We also see that you have experience driving change initiatives focused on student achievement and well-being. Merits experience developing instruction and support structures in mathematics (e.g., assessment/analysis, interventions, collaborative learning) experience developing instruction through, for example, co-teaching/two-teacher models, lesson design, assessment practices, and compensatory/didactic support structures experience mentoring on universal design for learning and accessible learning environments in a subject teacher organization familiarity with tracking the effects of interventions on both results and well-being (attendance, classroom conduct, well-being) The position requires you to work systematically both independently and as part of a team. The work should be characterized by collaboration, flexibility, and strong pedagogical leadership. You can collaborate with and mentor educators based on existing needs.
