Special Education Teacher at Hagenskolan
GÖTEBORGS KOMMUN · Full-time
Göteborgs Stad, Göteborg, Sweden
Description Hagenskolan is an F-6 school with approximately 280 students, beautifully located in the Hagen area with proximity to both sea and nature. We are a PALS school, which means we work with positive reinforcement and clear expectations to create safety and a good learning environment. Together with Nya Varvetskolan and Långedragsskolan, we form a shared school area where we collaborate closely to share experiences and develop pedagogy. At Hagenskolan, outdoor education is a natural part of our approach. Staff work in teams to develop students' self-esteem, creativity, curiosity, and love of learning. The school has an active parent association, HFF. Duties As a special education teacher with us, you will work at organizational, group, and individual levels to create and develop learning environments that support all students' development toward the school's learning goals. At all levels, you work with promoting, preventive, and intervention measures. You are part of a student support team where you work together with the school's other professionals—principal, assistant principal, psychologist, counselor, speech-language pathologist, and school nurse—to support and strengthen students' learning and development. Together with the student support team and other colleagues, you conduct assessments and evaluations to identify and meet students' need for special support. You also help formulate intervention programs and provide instruction based on what is outlined in these programs. Some collaboration with external actors may also occur. Qualifications We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with further education as a special education teacher. Experience working as a special education teacher is a merit. You have a talent for collaborating with and mentoring teachers to create conditions for each student to develop. We see it as self-evident that you encourage co-determination, openness, and tolerance. It is important that you can work independently within guidelines and practices and that you can recommend measures, document, and participate in decisions. We also see that you work toward a respectful work environment and build good relationships with colleagues, students, and guardians. You do this by being open and accommodating, and by listening to your surroundings to understand their needs. You also have the ability to remain stable in pressured situations, where you can balance different demands and maintain a positive attitude. Since we continuously develop our operations, we would like you to contribute new ideas and perspectives on work-related issues and challenge methods, practices, and ways of thinking.
