The Early Childhood and Elementary School Administration is one of Varberg Municipality's largest departments with nearly 2,200 employees. Within our areas of preschool, elementary school, and child and student health, we are here for children and students – together we shape the future. Varberg Municipality wants to strengthen collaboration between different actors working with children and students. This strategic direction means that the municipality's preventive work is consolidated and strengthened to better meet the needs of children, young people, and families, based on preschool, elementary school, and secondary school areas. The school social teams in Varberg Municipality consist of staff from the Early Childhood and Elementary School Administration and social services who work collaboratively to promote student school attendance, prevent absenteeism, and contribute to coordinated efforts around children. The five school social teams for elementary school are based in Varberg's five districts for municipal elementary schools and adapted elementary schools, and we will need 7 positions with various competencies. The goal is to strengthen children's attendance, achievement of goals, and sense of safety at school through team-based work. Development work is ongoing between the social services and the Early Childhood and Elementary School Administration to implement school social teams together. 2 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As part of the school social teams, you will work operatively in our schools to increase student attendance. All work aims to jointly identify causes of school absenteeism and help students receive the right support to increase their attendance and create better conditions for a functioning school experience. The work should be early-focused and conducted close to the children, their guardians, and their networks, as well as close to school staff, student health services, social services, and other actors. The assignment may also include contributing to the development of work methods for school social teams in Varberg Municipality. In your role, you will: - Work operatively and take action with students who have problematic school absenteeism, working both independently and in close collaboration with student health services and other school staff. - Serve as an advisor in planning support measures and also offer individual support to students with problematic school absenteeism. - Support and guide students and guardians in working to increase student school attendance. - Actively participate in the school's student health team, contribute special education expertise, and provide consultation on student matters related to school absenteeism. - Plan and implement preventive measures, at the whole-school level, in individual classes, and at the individual level. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with knowledge of elementary school and adapted elementary school operations and their governing documents, as well as experience working with students with problematic school absenteeism and school attendance promotion initiatives. Since our school social teams will be part of schools' student health work, we would appreciate it if you have experience working in or with student health services. We are looking for someone with deep special education insight and the ability to translate scientific evidence into practical daily support. To thrive and succeed in this role, you have: - A special education degree (or special teaching degree). - Good ability to document operational work and analyze and evaluate the impact of interventions. - Experience working operatively and close to students with special needs, by planning, implementing, and following up on individually tailored support measures. - Good collaboration skills and experience working in a solution-focused manner with different professionals. - Responsibility, independence, and organization, with the ability to take initiative and work in a multidisciplinary team.
