Skolslussen is part of the development unit and serves as a central resource for municipal primary schools, grades F-9, in Eskilstuna Municipality, including a consultation team and crisis school. We work as an interdisciplinary team of special educators, speech-language pathologists, special education teachers, teachers, counselors, and teaching assistants with broad expertise and extensive experience working with students facing complex educational challenges. We are a team of trained coaches specializing in school-based interventions. Our mission is to support and develop Eskilstuna's municipal primary schools with special education and psychosocial expertise for students with challenging and extensive behavioral issues. We find sustainable solutions for these students' school attendance, tailored to each student's individual circumstances. As a team, we work at organizational, group, and individual levels with promotion, prevention, and intervention measures. We always work from a relational approach. 1 position(s). WORK TASKS At Skolslussen, you will be part of a team of 8 colleagues. In this role, you will work with a small group of students where one-to-one support is often needed for assessments aimed at recommending special education measures. You will assess and conduct subject-specific mapping of students who need placement with us for a short period. Your assessments form the basis for placements in our municipality-wide specialized teaching groups. The role also includes teaching and learning support tailored to each student's needs. Your teaching focus will be on theoretical subjects, primarily mathematics and English, with other subjects as needed based on student requirements. You will also work at schools alongside a colleague, providing consultative support through observations to assist schools and develop recommendations for improved classroom environment and better learning conditions. Regardless of the intervention, all work is conducted in close collaboration with the school, external partners, and guardians. Other tasks include individual conversations with students and guardians, as well as supporting the coordination of networks around students. Our students typically have extensive behavioral issues, and you must be prepared to handle acute and challenging situations. We offer collegial learning opportunities and you will participate in several professional development activities and training programs. You will be hired on a holiday/seasonal contract. QUALIFICATIONS We place great emphasis on personal qualities. Our most important focus is how you interact with students. You must be able to build trust and confidence with students. Being attentive, respectful, and empathetic are key qualities, while also being clear and direct. You need to be unpretentious, flexible, and able to quickly adapt, as our work often requires it. No two days are the same, and it is important that you are comfortable with and can handle an unpredictable work environment. We want to build a team where we are responsive to each other's and our students' needs and recognize each student's potential. Since this work is easy to become emotionally invested in, you must also have the ability to set healthy boundaries, manage internal stress, and not take your work home with you. In addition to strong commitment, we want you to have drive and a development-oriented mindset. You must be a licensed teacher with certification to teach mathematics and have completed or be in the process of completing a special education teaching degree, plus hold a Class B driver's license. You must have at least two years of experience teaching in primary school. Experience working with children and youth with disabilities and behavioral issues is also required. Additional qualifications such as training in various assessment tools, experience in subject mapping, and training in MI and TMO would be highly valued. Does this sound interesting?
