Welcome to us We're seeking an engaged, certified special education teacher with high competence and experience teaching in an adapted elementary school. Skarpatorps School is located in the Skarpnäck district and has approximately 540 students and 100 staff members. Our adapted elementary school currently has 37 students from preschool class through grade 9. Skarpatorps School is centrally located in Skarpnäck with close proximity to nature, parks, and the subway station. What we offer At Skarpatorps School's adapted elementary school, you'll become part of a teaching team that, through high competence, solid experience, and close collaboration, works purposefully to provide all students with high-quality education. Teachers have subject area meetings once a week where teaching methods and knowledge development are discussed. Topics covered include systematic quality improvement, equitable assessment, language development approaches, explicit pedagogy, cooperative learning, and digital competency. Teachers also meet in team meetings once a week and have planning meetings with after-school care teachers and teaching assistants/student assistants in each class. Your role We're looking for a special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities for a class that studies subject areas. The role also includes mentorship for the class. As a special education teacher in an adapted elementary school, you will: • Take responsibility for and have insight into student results—be responsive to each student's circumstances and needs. • Have high expectations for students and their ability to develop. • Capture and stimulate students' curiosity, interest, and learning. • Take responsibility for relevant professional development to grow and advance in your profession. • Mentor teaching assistants on pedagogical matters. Your competence and experience We're looking for someone who has: Teacher certification as a special education teacher specializing in intellectual disabilities and experience teaching in an adapted elementary school. You have good collaboration skills, are flexible, solution-focused, and proactive. You view collaborative learning as a natural foundation for creating new and deeper knowledge. You lead and organize work in a way that creates a safe learning environment based on mutual respect and collaboration. You follow the view of humanity and knowledge that teachers' professional ethics is based on, and you discuss and process professional ethical considerations. You follow up, assess, communicate, and document students' knowledge development, thereby supporting them toward more conscious learning. We'd like to see that you have experience teaching in adapted elementary school subject areas.
