Igelsta Elementary School is characterized by a pleasant and welcoming work environment. Today we have approximately 500 students from preschool through grade 9 and about 65 staff members. We are building up our operations and you will have the opportunity to influence how teaching should look at the school. In your role as a teacher, you will plan, evaluate, and develop your teaching with your colleagues in the work team for support. The school has clear leadership and engaged teachers where knowledge and the desire to learn are always at the center. An active student wellbeing team exists at the school and includes a school counselor, school nurse, special education coordinator, special education teacher, assistant principals, and the principal. Our classrooms are inviting and creative learning environments. Craft, art, and music rooms and a fantastic library inspire curiosity, reading enjoyment, and creativity. Your responsibilities: We are now seeking an engaged special education teacher for grades 7-9, who will also have parts of the role connected to special education work. In your role as a special education teacher, you will work with assessments, evaluations, and analyses at both individual and group levels. In close collaboration with teaching staff, you will design, follow up on, and develop additional accommodations and specialized support. You are responsible for planning and delivering instruction for students both individually and in small groups. You work systematically to monitor student learning progress and ensure that interventions have the intended effect. Your expertise will also be important in creating accessible learning environments for all students. In addition to the special education teacher role, part of the position will include special education work. This includes coaching and supporting educators in matters of classroom management and stimulation, additional accommodations, and specialized support. You actively participate in the school's student wellbeing work and contribute to creating sustainable structures for collaboration between student wellbeing, work teams, and instruction. You will also have a significant role in school development processes related to accessible learning environments, student wellbeing work, and promotion and prevention initiatives. An important part of your assignment is to contribute to making student wellbeing work a natural and integrated part of the school's shared mission. You will have great opportunities to shape the role together with engaged colleagues and become a key person in the school's continued development work. This is a permanent position and includes vacation coverage. Who are you? Requirements: - We are looking for someone who is a certified special education teacher with solid pedagogical and didactic expertise. - Experience organizing and leading instruction for both individual students and groups at the junior high level. Personal qualities: - Confident in delivering special education instruction - Skilled at analyzing students' school situations and proposing appropriate interventions. - Able to coach educators in both immediate and long-term processes. - Value collaboration and have an easy time building trusting relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/guardians. - Solution-focused, flexible, and have a strong interest in school development and student wellbeing work. - Stay informed of current research and be able to apply new knowledge in practice.
