Special Education Teacher for Adapted Upper Secondary School, Subject Areas Focus

The adapted upper secondary school in Strängnäs is an integrated part of Thomasgymnasiet and we operate in facilities on the Campus area. The adapted upper secondary school is voluntary and four years long. Our school offers two national programs as well as individual programs. Classes in the national programs are year-integrated, and the individual programs consist of two additional year-integrated classes. We work closely throughout our operations, where everyone is welcomed and recognized based on their strengths, which contributes to a safe environment. The adapted upper secondary school collaborates with the employment service, social insurance agency, and LSS (support for persons with disabilities) to form a network around each student. We are now recruiting a special education teacher on a permanent basis, 100%, for the individual program! 1 position(s). JOB RESPONSIBILITIES You will primarily teach in the adapted upper secondary school's individual program. Teaching takes place across multiple subject areas offered in the program. Teaching is planned, implemented, and evaluated in accordance with the adapted upper secondary school's curriculum and subject area plans. You will work closely with other teachers, supervisors, assistants, and guardians, and actively participate in the school's development work. You will serve as a mentor for a group of students. You will work based on policy documents, individual action plans, and current procedures, and contribute to developing intervention programs. QUALIFICATIONS We are primarily looking for someone who has/is: • A special education teacher degree with a focus on intellectual disabilities, teacher certification, and eligibility to teach in elementary school's earlier years; teacher certification with eligibility in aesthetic practical subjects; or preschool teacher certification. • Previous experience working with children or youth with intellectual disabilities. • Experienced in using IT tools as support and with strong ability to document your work. • Good skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is advantageous if you have: • Worked as a special education teacher. • Studied special education pedagogy. • Worked as a special education specialist. • Worked in adapted schools based on current curriculum. • Worked across multiple school levels; preschool through grade 9, upper secondary/adult education. • Experience or training in neuropsychiatric disabilities. • Experience with student health promotion work. • Can teach music subjects. • B-class driver's license.
