About the Workplace
Position/Title: Special Education Teacher with Special Pedagogy Competence
Placement: Varekils School. During the 2026/27 school year, the position will be shared with the Resource School in Ellös. The position may subsequently also be shared with another school depending on need.
Varekils School is a grades F-6 school with approximately 160 students, and you will be part of the student well-being team (EHT) that works with specific students or group interventions. The Resource School in Orust serves students in grades 1–9 who need more support than their current school can provide. Students are taught in small groups and there is a higher ratio of staff than in a regular school. Teachers, support staff, and student services work together. Both schools are located in beautiful natural settings at different places on the island.
Your Responsibilities
As a special education teacher with us, you will work closely with students, teachers, and the student well-being team to create accessible learning environments and provide support based on student needs. You are responsible for planning, implementing, and following up on instruction and interventions, both individually and in small groups. You will teach students with special educational needs. Your responsibilities include assessing student needs, conducting pedagogical evaluations, and designing and monitoring intervention plans. You will mentor and support teachers in adaptations and supplementary adjustments, and contribute to developing inclusive learning environments. Personal suitability is given great weight alongside qualifications.
About You
We are seeking a licensed teacher with a special education teacher certification. It is meriting to have special pedagogy training or experience. You need to have good knowledge of literacy development and/or mathematics difficulties, as well as experience working with students with special educational needs. You need the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You need to have an inclusive and solution-focused approach, and be flexible, organized, and relationship-building. You have strong collaboration and communication skills and a genuine interest in school development.
