We are looking for you as a Special Education Teacher who wants to work 80%-100%
Job Description
Do you want to make a real difference? We are seeking a driven and engaged special education teacher who wants to work preventively and proactively to create an accessible school for all our students. With us, you will become an important part of a large student welfare team with high commitment and a focus on development.
The role of special education teacher at the upper secondary level within vocational programs
We equip our students for lifelong learning based on our vision of students who are willing, able, and daring. As a special education teacher, you contribute to this through your knowledge of conditions for learning, how to promote and prevent obstacles. We work with what we call Design for Active Learning, which involves systematic work with lesson design. This creates security for both teachers and students and increases goal achievement.
As a special education teacher with us, work occurs at the organizational, group, and individual levels, with particular focus on support in Swedish and English. Part of the role is to support teaching staff in adapting and varying instruction, as well as promoting attendance and accessible learning. The other part involves you teaching students within the framework of specialized support at the individual level and in small groups, both independently and in collaboration with teaching staff. This role also includes special education support for students in the classroom in collaboration with regular teaching staff. Some teaching may also be part of the position. The role also includes being a pedagogical resource in pedagogical assessments, developing action plans, and following up on interventions. You are an active participant in the school's systematic quality work and student welfare efforts, and collaborate closely with school leadership, lead teachers, mentors, subject teachers, and others in student welfare.
You are a knowledge resource for your colleagues and school leadership by contributing your special education expertise in preventive, proactive, and intervention work. We work with the Student Welfare Meeting (EHM) model, which aims to create a common forum for student welfare work between student welfare staff and educators, focusing on promoting school development.
This is a role with great opportunities to influence the overall picture and contribute to school development – always with the student's best interests in focus.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a certified special education teacher who can support students primarily in Swedish and English. You need to feel confident and have competence to support students in both subjects. It is an advantage if you have experience teaching within vocational programs at the upper secondary level or have worked as a special education teacher in upper secondary vocational programs.
You have good knowledge of accommodations, specialized support, and pedagogical assessments, and are experienced in documenting and following up on interventions in a school environment.
Furthermore, you feel confident mentoring colleagues and have a relational approach. You work solution-focused and see collaboration as a natural part of your role.
You are comfortable supporting students individually and in groups, as well as in the classroom through collaboration with other professionals.
It is an advantage if you have been part of a student welfare team, participated in school development, and worked with problematic school absenteeism. It is also an advantage if you have breadth in your competence – that is, if you feel confident supporting across various subjects such as Swedish, English, and others.
We also see that you express yourself well in Swedish orally and in writing, and can formulate yourself clearly in assessments and action plans. You handle documentation in a professional, forward-looking, and clear manner. We use the Prorenata journal system.
We are looking for you who shares Lärande's core values – safety, development, teamwork, and success. You have good collaborative skills, are flexible and change-oriented with focus on goals and results. You have excellent pedagogical insight.
