Your Responsibilities As a special education teacher in language, writing, and reading development at Nygårdsskolan, you are responsible for special education work and supporting students in need of specific assistance in Swedish for grades F-6. In your work, you are expected to help identify and assess students' support needs and ensure high quality in diagnostic assessments and current support. You have an important task in supporting students at risk of not meeting nationally established goals, which you do through both classroom instruction and individual instruction. Your assignment is multifaceted and includes the following: You collaborate closely with classroom teachers around individual students' needs for accommodations. You are part of the school's collective special education team – which will expand from three to five employees next year – and work closely with the student support team, other special functions, and teachers. You also mentor your teaching colleagues on special education issues related to Swedish. You become part of our educational development as the school prepares to launch a study studio next year. At Nygårdsskolan, we use a two-teacher system (co-teaching) in the lower grades (F-3). Here you support teachers in grouping, organizing, and creating good conditions for special education directly in the learning environment, as well as help develop materials and research-based methods. Some direct work with students also occurs in these grade levels. In the intermediate grades (4-6), you work more directly with students and with assessments to ensure goal achievement throughout. You develop action plans and ensure that the working methods used are research-based and evaluable to the greatest extent possible. Your Workplace Nygårdsskolan is an F-6 school with approximately 300 students today, where most have multicultural backgrounds. The school has newly renovated, fresh facilities and is located in the Skäggetorp neighborhood. The schoolyard is approximately 14,000 square meters and equipped with new playground equipment. We offer aftercare for F-3 and open recreation activities for grades 4-6. The school has a staffed school library, a well-functioning student support team, and established environmental initiatives. About You We are looking for someone with teacher certification and eligibility in Swedish for primary school within the range F-6 and a special education teacher degree with specialization in language, writing, and reading development. You have previous work experience with the educational work that the teacher role entails. You have good communication skills in speaking and writing in Swedish. This is so that, according to the curriculum, you can organize and conduct work so that the student receives support in their language and communication development. You have a positive attitude and bring enthusiasm and energy to your work. You have a good ability to create participation in the activities and can establish and maintain relationships at the workplace. You have good insight into how people acquire knowledge and can adapt your way of conveying messages to others. You communicate in a clear manner. You are confident in yourself and see relationships in their proper perspective. Furthermore, you take responsibility for your tasks and drive your processes forward.
