For others, we create an opportunity for a better life. Whether you work in the sterile techniques department, in one of our mobile operations, in the intensive care unit, or in surgery, you have a crucial role in critical moments. We welcome your application to become part of us. Would you like to work where your expertise makes a real difference – every day? At the Central Intensive Care Unit (CIVA), you meet patients and their loved ones in life's most critical moments. For some, we are their last hope; for others, the beginning of the way back. It is work that demands a lot – but that also gives a lot back. With us, you become part of an operation where advanced intensive care is combined with strong teamwork, continuous learning, and the opportunity to contribute across the entire care chain. Our Operations At CIVA, we care for approximately 850–900 patients annually with failure of vital functions. We are responsible for intensive care in Uppsala County and are simultaneously a regional and national resource for highly specialized care. Our patients often have complex conditions such as severe infections, trauma, cardiac arrest, and advanced postoperative complications. Through close collaboration with other intensive care units, we also care for patients with conditions such as burns, neurological and thoracic diseases. The work is varied and fast-paced, with rapid changes and strong teamwork. Your Assignment As a specialist intensive care nurse at CIVA, your main task is to care for our admitted patients with failure of vital functions. You work in a patient-centered manner in a team with nursing assistants, intensive care physicians, and physiotherapists where you provide advanced intensive care based on each patient's needs. In addition, you participate in CIVA's hospital-wide mission. Within Adult Emergency Response, you can have the role of nurse in charge during emergency calls and, together with intensive care physicians, participate in acute interventions throughout the hospital, where quick decisions and good collaboration are crucial. You also participate in the Post-Intensive Care Follow-Up Group (PIG), where we follow up with patients after discharge from the ICU. You plan and coordinate the follow-up together with the care unit and other professionals and contribute to continuity, security, and increased understanding of the intensive care period. This fall, we are launching a pilot with a mobile intensive care group (MIG). Together with intensive care physicians, you work proactively with early interventions for patients who deteriorate on the care unit, with a focus on preventing serious conditions and strengthening patient safety. Your Qualifications and Competence We are looking for you who are a licensed registered nurse with a specialist nursing degree in intensive care. You may be new to the role or have longer experience. You work in a structured manner even at a fast pace, have good collaboration skills, and feel secure in your professional role. You have a patient-centered approach and the ability to make decisions in complex situations. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. What We Offer With us, you get a developing and meaningful workday in a highly specialized environment. We offer permanent employment with rotation of day, evening, and night shifts in a scheduling model that promotes recovery. You receive an individually adapted introduction with support from a department educator and continuous professional development through training and reflection in your daily work. The work gives you the opportunity to develop both in advanced intensive care work and through our hospital-wide assignments. You become part of an experienced and supportive team where we take responsibility together – with us, you are never alone. We have a strong connection to research and education in collaboration with Uppsala University and an established post-ICU clinic. Our facilities are adapted for a good work environment with ergonomic lighting and sound. You are offered wellness benefits of up to 3,000 kronor as well as other benefits through Region Uppsala.
