Clinical Microbiology in Lund is one of Sweden's largest microbiological laboratories. The department is part of Laboratory Medicine Skåne within the Medical Service division. Clinical Microbiology serves as a central medical consultation platform for healthcare, providing analyses and expertise with high availability to all of Region Skåne's own operations and external healthcare providers.
We actively work to develop and improve methods, workflows, processes, and customer interfaces to create an operation optimized to meet healthcare's current and future needs. We consider continuous professional development of our staff essential for this. We also participate in the education of biomedical analysts and physicians. Clinical Microbiology, together with Infection Control Skåne and Communicable Disease Control Skåne, forms a university hospital unit with research conducted in collaboration with Lund University as an integrated part of the operation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a senior physician or specialist physician in either clinical microbiology or infectious diseases with an interest in dual specialization in clinical microbiology, focusing on clinical work, development, teaching, and research.
The position includes:
• Microbiological diagnostics and consultation.
• Medical responsibility, quality control, method development, and knowledge management within your area of responsibility.
• Development of diagnostics and operations in dialogue with various healthcare providers and stakeholders.
• Supervision of resident physicians and teaching of students.
The laboratory's registries and biobank provide excellent conditions for clinical research, and there is an opportunity to combine the position with research, provided you can finance it with your own research grant.
QUALIFICATIONS
For the position of specialist physician:
You are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare. You hold specialist competence in clinical microbiology or infectious diseases. Swedish language proficiency at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is required. You must have completed or have planned clinical supervision training.
For the position of senior physician, the following are required:
You are a licensed physician authorized to practice within Swedish healthcare and have:
- specialist competence in clinical microbiology or infectious diseases
- Swedish language proficiency at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale
- full-time employment for at least five years (documented effective time)
- clinical proficiency and independence within clinical microbiology or infectious diseases
- a defined medical responsibility and knowledge area
- completed or planned clinical supervision training
- documented teaching and supervision credentials
- a doctoral degree.
At a university hospital unit, physicians must have pedagogical experience and training. This can be acquired through supervision of, for example, nursing and medical students, physicians in training, and as a co-supervisor or principal supervisor of doctoral students. Clearly describe in your application any completed or planned pedagogical courses, experience supervising and teaching at various levels.

You should be able to engage other staff members, help distribute tasks and responsibilities among different staff categories and individuals in your team, and actively contribute to the department's overall goals. You need strong collaboration and communication skills and should demonstrate care and respect in your working relationships. Furthermore, you are driven, creative, and solution-oriented. Personal suitability is given considerable weight.
