Our patients meet us at Region Uppsala's own health centers or within rehabilitation services, and we provide advice by phone via 1177. Education, research, and development are important to us, as we adapt our services based on the residents' needs. We already offer mobile teams, video visits, and smart e-services.
Specialist Physician for the Primary Care Department in Tierp
We are now looking for a new colleague for the primary care department in Tierp. Start date is by agreement, and the position is 70-100% full-time equivalent.
Your Assignment
With us, you will work closely with a care team consisting of a nurse, nursing assistant, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and pharmacist, as well as a dietitian as needed. The work involves assessing patients before potential inpatient care on the department, managing inpatient care, and planning for discharge. We place great emphasis on individualizing care and involving both patients and their families, as well as planning ahead together with health centers and municipalities to create security and clarity after discharge.
Currently, two specialists work part-time at the unit, and we are now expanding with a specialist colleague with the goal that there will always be two physicians on duty sharing the medical responsibility for the department. With us, you work weekdays between 8:00 AM-4:30 PM; compensation is provided based on geographic location.
On-call duties are not included in the assignment.
Our Operations
The Primary Care Department is part of Health Center Tierp. The department has 18 care beds with shorter stays and adapted admission and discharge processes. The assignment is at primary care level from age 17 and up. The department primarily cares for elderly patients with complex needs who require inpatient care but are not expected to benefit from hospital resources.
Patients are admitted from health centers, municipalities, on-call services, mobile primary care teams, and academic hospitals.
The department also has some day care operations.
We work according to a person-centered approach where great emphasis is placed on involving the patient and next of kin in care.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a specialist with certification in general medicine, internal medicine, or geriatrics and has Swedish medical licensure. You are committed to meeting patients with increasing frailty and adapting care based on the individual's wishes and circumstances. You are accustomed to working independently and taking initiative, but are also interested in a team-based approach.
It is important that you are a good communicator in Swedish both verbally and in writing. You have good collaboration skills and appreciate teamwork. Since the primary care department is a relatively new form of care, we are keen on you being interested in helping develop the operations together with other employees.
