Internationella Engelska Skolan in Täby is an well-established school for students in grades 4 through 9, with a student body of 1,150 and a staff of approximately 110 employees. Your New Role:
You are a certified teacher with special education expertise and several years of professional experience in schools. You are recognized as knowledgeable in your field and have a documented track record of raising academic achievement and attendance for students with special needs. Previous experience as a lead teacher and/or school administrator is a merit.
The position is a permanent full-time contract starting at the beginning of the academic year in August. A probationary period of 6 months applies.
Qualifications
Your role as a special education teacher with us means that, in close collaboration with the principal, you are the hub in systematic decision-making and development work for an accessible learning environment.
The work involves creating continuity and contributing to a balance between school and student support culture.
The work is conducted in close collaboration with the school's assistant principals, special education teachers, the student support team (EHT), and teachers. The school has a local student support plan with connected operational description and resource allocation in collaboration with the principal as the core of the EHT work.
You are responsible for documenting these consultations in the designated documents with high quality and in a clear manner and sharing the information with the student support team, school leadership, and other stakeholders. You independently and systematically ensure follow-up on any intervention plans or pedagogical assessments with guardians and other stakeholders. You ensure that necessary information about a student, regarding both academic and social development, is communicated to all relevant parties.
You are able to mentor and conduct observations of your colleagues—school leaders, the EHT team, and teachers—in a trusting and respectful manner, helping them find effective and sustainable approaches or working methods with students who struggle to meet learning standards and/or groups that challenge a productive learning environment.
We seek a special education teacher with well-developed communication skills, both verbal and written, who also has the ability to earn your colleagues' trust. Your mentoring is conducted with great respect for people's different abilities, and you succeed in encouraging others to take new steps in their development.
You have a positive view of students and always put the student's best interests first, never compromising on their needs, and have a creative ability to find effective solutions.
Your administrative skills are well-developed; you are organized and maintain proper documentation, ensuring files are archived in the appropriate locations.
