Social Worker for Adult LSS Services in Downtown
GÖTEBORGS KOMMUN · Full-time
Göteborgs Stad, Göteborg, Sweden
Responsibilities We are now seeking two experienced social workers for our unit within Adult LSS Services in Downtown. During 2026, we have experienced some staff turnover on our unit due to parental leave, employees relocating, and staff wanting to develop their careers in other areas. We are therefore a new unit, but with experience distributed among the team. We are primarily looking for someone with experience in handling cases related to support services for people with disabilities, who can contribute knowledge to our new unit and wants to be part of building a new work group. One position is a replacement, and I am also expanding the unit with an additional position to provide support while several new members are settling in. On our unit, we meet with adults with LSS eligibility who need support and services in their daily lives. The most common services we assess, make decisions about, and follow up on are Housing with special services, day activities, and personal assistance. We also handle decisions according to the Social Services Act, such as housing support, home care services, and short-term housing. Our goals and mission are to ensure that people with disabilities can live an independent and secure life on equal terms as others, where the right support is provided at the right time and in the right amount. We are looking for you to help us achieve our goals. As a social worker, you are responsible for planning and structuring your work so that new applications are processed and follow-ups of decisions are completed within prescribed timeframes. You need to have a strong ability for self-leadership, where your task is to follow up on decisions in a timely manner and maintain processing times. Collaboration is a large part of the work, for example with family members, service providers, other authorities, and healthcare. You are comfortable with exercising governmental authority and can combine it with social work. With us, you will get a stimulating and responsible job with great opportunities to influence and develop, as well as access to method and process supervision. We prioritize a good introduction and skills development. You will have a mentor on the unit who will provide additional support in tasks and operations, and you will participate in the administration's general introduction program and competency ladder. With us, as an employee, you will have great trust and the opportunity to take your own initiatives and participate in operational matters, work environment, and quality development. We look forward to your application! Qualifications We are looking for you who are trained as a social worker (socionom) or have another university degree that the employer considers equivalent. Since the position involves both administrative work and exercising governmental authority toward adults with intellectual disabilities or cognitive impairment, it is important that you have good communication skills. You need to be able to adapt your communication and express yourself clearly, in accordance with plain language principles. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. It is a merit if you have experience handling cases according to the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act on Support and Services for People with Certain Disabilities (LSS). We also consider it a merit if you have experience working as a social worker and if you have experience with documentation according to IBIC and in the business systems Treserva and SAMSA. You start from everyone's equal value and show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. The service user's needs are the starting point for your actions. You are collaborative while also having the ability to work independently and make decisions within the scope of your assignment. You work in a structured manner and plan and prioritize your work efficiently. You ensure that tasks are completed and followed up. You take responsibility, show initiative, and demonstrate strong commitment to your work, which means you work quickly and effectively. Other Information Selection and interviews may begin during the application period. At the interview, you will need to identify yourself with a national ID card/passport that verifies your citizenship and any work permit. In this recruitment, you will need to answer several questions where you describe your knowledge in the field instead of sending a personal letter.
