Description:

1 position(s). First impressions matter. As a social secretary at our reception, you are the face of our organization and play an important role in children's and families' journey to support. Your responsibilities You are the first contact for children and parents with social services. You make quick assessments, determine if a child or young person needs protection or support, and decide how a case should be handled further. To meet our families, you need to quickly build trust and be confident in your approach. A large part of the task involves informing, supporting, and guiding families by phone or in meetings. With us, no two days are the same. You work alternately in an acute-driven flow where you receive incoming cases, and in a more planned work week with preliminary assessments and scheduled visits. You collaborate both internally and externally, with schools, Barnahus, and other parts of social services. The position also includes some on-call duty distributed within the work group, which means you may need to work outside regular hours when needed. Your qualifications We are looking for someone who is a trained social worker or has relevant education and prior validation. Since documentation is an important part of everyday work, you have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Most importantly, we need your ability to meet people in vulnerable situations, often without prior knowledge of the family you will meet. This requires courage, attentiveness, and the ability to quickly read situations and make contact. You need to be able to make independent decisions with the best interests of the children in focus, often in a short time frame with a strong sense of justice as your foundation. To thrive in the role, you need to quickly switch between different tasks and situations, have good self-awareness, and a high degree of self-leadership. You also need to be able to handle stress while maintaining composure, both in meetings with families and in close collaboration with colleagues and other actors. We would like to see that you have experience in the field, but we also welcome newly graduated professionals. Since travel is part of the job, you need to have a B driver's license. What we offer With us, you get varied and challenging work with good opportunities for development. As a new employee, you receive thorough introduction, and regardless of whether you are new to the profession or have extensive experience, you will receive guidance and support in your assignment. You will also have good opportunities for skills development and personal development. There is an opportunity to take on cases you find particularly exciting and room to organize your own working hours. There is also some possibility of working from home. You become part of something bigger here! With warmth and respect, we demonstrate initiative in the large and the small. We live our values in our meetings with each other and those we serve. Every day, year-round, we ensure that Västerås functions. Together with your approximately 11,500 colleagues around the city, you get Sweden's most important job. Read more about opportunities, career paths, and our offer here: https://www.vasteras.se/jobbochkarriär Other information Before you can be employed, we conduct a background check and you need to show a valid criminal record certificate from the police. During the interview, you need to verify your citizenship. You can do this with a passport or personal certificate together with an ID document. If you are not a citizen of Sweden, EU, EES, or Switzerland, you must provide proof that you have a valid work permit or are exempt from the requirement to have a work permit. Employment can only take place after verification of work permit, which is required according to the aliens ordinance. All offers of recruitment and advertising assistance are declined.
