Internationella Engelska Skolan (IES) Österåker is a modern, bilingual F–9 school in Åkersberga that opened its doors in 2024. We are now seeking a Social Pedagogue at 100% who wants to be an important part of the school's safety and student support work. As a social pedagogue with us, you will be a present and trustworthy adult for our students, with a special focus on students in grades 7–9. You work to build relationships and take a preventive approach, actively contributing to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive school environment where students are given the opportunity to succeed both socially and academically. About the role In your role as a social pedagogue, you will be close to students throughout the school day. You will actively work to build trusting relationships and create an environment where students feel seen, heard, and respected. You will, among other things: - be a safe and accessible adult that students can turn to - work to build relationships and take a preventive approach to students' social development - identify students who need extra support, motivation, or a trusted adult contact - work to increase wellbeing, safety, community, and school attendance - support students in social situations and during conflicts - help prevent harassment, exclusion, and problematic school absenteeism - have motivating and supportive conversations with students - collaborate with teachers, student health services, and other staff regarding students' needs - contribute a social pedagogical perspective to the school's student health work - be involved in the school's safety work and various preventive initiatives - create activities and contexts that promote community and inclusion. As a social pedagogue, you need to be able to meet students with different needs and circumstances. You are responsive and curious and have the ability to build relationships even with students who may struggle to find their place in school. You see possibilities rather than limitations and work solution-focused with students' best interests at the center. We are looking for you who - have a social pedagogy degree or other relevant education - have a genuine interest in children and young people's social development and wellbeing - enjoy working closely with young people and building long-term trusting relationships - are secure, stable, and clear in your adult role - have a respectful and professional demeanor - are responsive and have the ability to look beyond behavior and understand a student's needs - are communicative and find it easy to collaborate with both students, guardians, and colleagues - are proactive, solution-focused, and flexible - can handle challenging situations in a calm and professional manner - have good knowledge of Swedish and English – this is a requirement. It is meritorious if you have experience working within schools, student health services, youth activities, social work, or other operations where you have worked with children and young people.
