social worker for work with families with children (for an indefinite period)
Main requirements for candidates:
higher education in social work or charitable social work, in accordance with the requirements of Section 41 of the Social Services and Social Assistance Law (hereinafter – the Law) (obtaining corresponding education);
knowledge of regulatory acts governing the provision of social services and social assistance;
ability to prepare administrative acts, letters and reports, opinions;
good computer skills, work with information systems and programs, office equipment, ability to work with the social benefits administration information system (SOPA);
ability to work in a team, take initiative and responsibility;
ability to make quick and independent decisions in non-standard situations;
ability to plan, manage and organize work, ability to clearly express your opinion;
good communication, empathy, and listening skills;
excellent knowledge of Latvian language;
experience in social work and acquired specialized knowledge in child rights protection will be considered an advantage.
Main responsibilities:
inform and consult families with children about their rights to social services and social assistance and opportunities for their implementation, as well as their obligations in receiving social services and assistance;
assess the social situation of families with children, if necessary, visit the family at their residence or location and agree on social problems that require support to address;
conduct risk assessment or multi-stage assessment in families with children where there are conditions unfavorable to child development;
in addressing social cases, identify and attract necessary resources, respecting the specifics of social work in various fields of practice;
receive and register written and oral applications from persons, ensure that applications are reviewed in the manner established by regulatory acts;
perform documentation and computerized record-keeping of the social case management process;
work with the unified municipal social assistance administration electronic system (SOPA) and other systems.
