Your New Role As a school social worker, you work preventatively and promotively to strengthen students' social and emotional development and create good conditions for learning. You are an important part of the school's student welfare efforts and collaborate closely with school leadership, counselors, full-time mentors, special educators, school nurses, study and career advisors, and other staff. Together, you contribute to an inclusive school environment where students feel engaged and a sense of belonging. In this role, you work closely with students in their daily lives, building relationships, strengthening positive social contexts, and supporting students through various social challenges. You work at both individual and group levels to promote wellbeing, prevent exclusion, and contribute to a calm and safe school environment. As part of the school's student welfare team and safety team, you also become an important link between student, family, and school. A central part of your mission is to work with the school's attendance group to promote school attendance and identify early on students at risk of absences affecting their education. The work takes place in close cooperation with guardians, school staff, and external partners such as social services, field teams, police, child and adolescent mental health services, and recreational activities. You also contribute to the ongoing development of the school's work on attendance and student wellbeing. You are accustomed to collaborating with various actors within schools, social services, and other parts of society, and have a strong ability to build trusting relationships.
