Your Responsibilities
Working as a school nurse is varied and flexible. You will conduct health visits/health consultations with health assessments, vaccinations, and open clinic hours. You are an important part of the student health team where you contribute your medical expertise. Working for student health primarily involves health promotion and preventive work as well as supporting students' development toward educational goals. With your knowledge of healthcare, you provide consultative support to the school's other staff in their educational work.
You will be part of a professional network with the municipality's other school nurses with regular meetings for quality development and work support. School nurses in the network are also offered supervision and profession-specific professional development.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for you—a registered nurse with further education in open healthcare or healthcare for children and young people, or education as a school nurse. It is advantageous if you have experience working as a school nurse or in health promotion work with children and young people. You have good knowledge and understanding of the importance of student health work for student development. Experience working with children and young people with NPF diagnoses is an advantage for this position.
You have a strong ability to structure and plan your work efficiently. You enjoy working outward-facing and find it easy to build good relationships with both students, their guardians, and colleagues in the staff. In your role, you will collaborate with various professions within the school and have contact with external organizations and authorities. Health promotion and preventive work are a natural and central part of the assignment.
What We Offer
Önstaskolan is a primary school serving grades 7-9 and is located at Önsta centrum in the northern part of Västerås. Approximately 450 students and 60 staff members attend here. At Önstaskolan, there are many adults around the students. Safety surveys conducted each term show that students feel welcome and are seen by many adults during the school day. The shared café in the middle of the school is a natural meeting place during breaks. Önstaskolan also has adapted primary education for grades 7-9.

Before you can be employed, we will conduct a background check and you must provide a valid police clearance certificate.
