The Central Child and Student Health Department includes a department head for child and student health, an operations manager for EMI (the medical component of student health services), a unit head for counselors, school physicians, a coordinating school nurse with medical records responsibility, psychologists, and speech-language pathologists, among others. The department's mission is to work toward improved quality, strengthened equity, and professionalization in student health services. Student health services are tasked with promoting health and preventing illness, while supporting students' development toward educational goals. We currently have two school physicians on staff at 180% FTE within EMI, and we are now expanding with an additional school physician position. The department head for child and student health will be your direct supervisor. Within EMI, an operations manager with medical leadership responsibility oversees quality improvement efforts. Your Responsibilities As a school physician, you will work collaboratively with others in student health and schools on health promotion, prevention, and intervention efforts, thereby supporting students' development toward educational goals. You are an important part of student health services where you contribute your expertise to interdisciplinary work. You will operate within the frameworks set by the Health and Medical Services Act, the Education Act, and the National Board of Health and Welfare's guidelines. You will participate in EMI meetings with school nurses in the central child and student health services. You will also be part of a professional network with other school physicians in the region for quality improvement and work support. School physicians are offered opportunities for supervision and profession-specific professional development. Your duties include clinic work at schools and serving as a medical advisor and support to school nurses. You will conduct medical assessments for admission to adapted primary education. Documentation within EMI is handled in our digital medical records system. You will also participate in EMI's quality improvement efforts. The exact scope of your role will be formulated together with the successful candidate and the department. Your Qualifications We are seeking a licensed physician with specialist training in general medicine, pediatrics and adolescent medicine, or child and adolescent psychiatry. It is advantageous if you hold an additional specialization in school health or have prior experience with/knowledge in this field. It is also advantageous if you have experience with/knowledge in child growth and development, endocrinology, mental health, specific learning difficulties, vaccinations and disease prevention, and health promotion work. We would also appreciate if you have specific knowledge of the legislation governing school operations and the relevant parts of the Health and Medical Services Act that regulate student health services. You are a flexible and collaborative person with the ability to meet parents, children, and young people where they are. You are skilled at building trusting relationships. We place considerable emphasis on personal suitability. Travel within your role will occur as work takes place across the entire municipality; therefore, a Class B driver's license and access to your own vehicle are required. We welcome your application. Additional Information To ensure quality in the recruitment process at Halmstad Municipality and to enable good communication with our applicants, we ask that you submit your application digitally. The Child and Youth Administration values the qualities that balanced age and gender distribution, as well as ethnic and cultural diversity, bring to our operations. We therefore welcome applicants who contribute to this. Before employment, you must demonstrate that you have the right to work, as required by the Aliens Ordinance. You do this by proving your citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland through a passport, national ID card, or personal certificate together with an identity document. If you cannot do this, you must present a work permit or demonstrate that you are exempt from the obligation to obtain one. If you are offered employment in the Child and Youth Administration, you are required to provide an extract without remarks from the Police's criminal record for work in schools/preschools. The extract is free of charge. We recommend ordering it digitally from the Police website. The position is filled on the condition that it is not required for personnel surplus situations. We decline all offers of advertising and recruitment assistance in connection with this job posting. We warmly welcome your application!
