Are you looking for a position where your expertise truly makes a difference, and where you'll have excellent opportunities to develop your work? We are now seeking a school counselor for our student health services, with the aim of strengthening our students' well-being and their opportunity to develop their knowledge!
Job Responsibilities
As a school counselor, your main task—particularly through preventive and promotional work—is to support our students in their development and help them achieve their educational goals. This includes, for example, planning and promoting the school's values-based work, as well as counteracting discrimination, bullying, drug use, and harassment. The work is largely carried out through collaboration with principals at the municipality's schools, colleagues within student health services, your immediate manager, as well as teachers and parents. In certain matters, you will also mentor and train school staff. The local student health work is led by each school's principal.
The position involves conducting conversations with students and parents at individual, group, and organizational levels. Through your work, you contribute to creating a learning environment where all students have the conditions to thrive and develop.
The position is part of the Central Team, where the work team consists of a school psychologist, school nurses, school counselors, study and career counselors, an IT educator, IT support, and the manager of the Central Team. You work both on assignment from your immediate manager and from principals. The role also includes following current research and building your quality work based on analysis of previous results. The position is based at Hackås School and covers several of the municipality's schools as work locations.
Qualifications
We are seeking someone who is trained as a social worker, or who holds another university-level degree that we consider equivalent. Previous experience working as a school counselor or within a school social team is an asset, as is other work within schools. Training in conversation techniques and experience meeting with groups and individuals on difficult questions and topics is also an asset. You also have a strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing, and good knowledge of IT systems. Furthermore, you need to have good knowledge of the school's governing documents. A driver's license for passenger cars (Category B) is a requirement.
Bergs Municipality is a Sámi administrative municipality, and we therefore consider it an asset if you have knowledge of South Sámi language and culture.
Personal Qualities
As a person, you are accustomed to working in a team while also being self-driven, initiative-taking, flexible, and solution-oriented. You have good collaboration skills but can also plan and prioritize your work independently. We also see that you have an inclusive approach and can build good relationships with students, guardians, and school staff. We place great importance on personal suitability based on these qualities.
What We Offer
Working for Bergs Municipality means becoming part of an organization in constant development and forward motion. Our employees are our absolutely most important resource, and we value you for your unique expertise and experience. We have a benefits portal with a range of offerings, an annual wellness allowance, and the opportunity for wellness hours.
Start date: August 10 or by agreement.
